Was this the best defensive performance in a Super Bowl? Holding a team that has what is statistically the greatest offense of all time to 8 points is pretty darn impressive.

The only time I can recall an offense being shut out in a Super Bowl was in XXXV when the Ravens defense shut out the Giants offense, but that was a Kerry Collins led offense.

I think it has to be based on the opponent. Bears and Ravens didn't face a hall of fame QB with a ton of weapons and the rules allowed more defense.

It was almost a shutout and the only Broncos score was a garbage time TD.

They won't be able to afford the team after next year unless a lot of guys just don't care about the money.

The guys they keep will need to get even better or they need to continue drafting well, salary cap kills a lot of teams

I have not flipped or flopped on anything. I'm just recognizing that the Seattle Seahawks in my mind have proven that they are the best defense in the NFL as of today. I can handle the truth/facts & discern on a football team as I see them!

I never said that I root for/against the Seahawks over any other team, however I do appreciate a great team when I see one & I will give them their just & earned do!!

BTW, I can root for/root against as many teams as I want too!!!

They can do it for one more year. Then in 2015 they'll have to pay Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman.

What could keep them going -- in addition to continuing to find starters later in the draft and in undrafted free agency -- is if they become a destination location for free agents who will take less short term like Cliff Avril. Michael Bennett will make a killing this offseason after his one year deal with Seattle.

I believe most players want two things, that ring and that big contract, these guys have one so unless they really love it up there or want a chance at another ring, don't think they're going to take a discount.

I can see Wilson giving them a discount, and maybe Sherman. But Sherman is a stretch.

Really? You don't think a guy with his ego doesn't want to be the highest paid CB in the game?

I can see him realizing that giving Seattle a hometown discount could mean more rings for him. He's a guy that strikes me as potentially caring more about rings than money.

Sherman is one of the few guys who probably doesn't need to rely on money, because he's a smart guy. He'll be fine if his career is over in 3 years. But most players won't.

some will take a discount and some won't

anyhow there is literally no way this roster will be the same in 2015

This is the NFL. Dynasties are extremely difficult due to the stringent cap. For Seattle to keep winning they'll have to be very wise with their salaries and cut the right people loose when necessary, much like what New England did during the early-mid 00's.

Ya, and Wilson has to be the #1 priority. As great as some of those others guys are a franchise QB is by far the most valuable asset in the NFL. Sherman I can't see giving Seattle more than a small discount. He already has a ring. He'll want a huge deal.
