IDK...that's the way i look @ it.
Not taking anything away from him but Young was in the league for 15 years but he didn't become a full time starter for about 7 or 8 of those years. He started 143 games in his career.

Romo is a top 10 QB all time statistically. Romo hides just how terrible Dallas is.

Put Romo on even an average team and they are a superbowl contender. Instead he's stuck on a ridiculously bad team which somehow has people seeing the star instead of the players. Most of these starters wouldn't be on the practice team for Aikman's Cowboys.

I'd love to hear the QB which never has a bad night. Hint: If you try to name one, you are ignoring bad games.
Romo is still making the same mistakes that he made last year, 2 years ago, 5 years ago. When does it end? When do you start asking is it time to move on to something else? As long as he's been in the league these mistakes should be gone by now. Fumbling the ball, throwing ill-advised interceptions and pick sixes. That stuff should be minimal at this stage of his career and if it isn't it's seriously time to start looking elsewhere. I want to see him turn it around and succeed but I and most Cowboys fans aren't going to wait forever. Our patience is wearing thin with him, Jerry, Garrett, etc.

Of course if the Cowboys got rid of Romo they would probably take a step back but then again maybe they don't the way rookie Qb's come into this league and take off.

He does have to share the blame. Two of those pics were terrible throws. Taking in the BIG picture...the Cowboy's "O" line is CRAP (almost as bad as the Jets). Zero holes for the backs to run threw and horseshit pass protection. Four of their next five are on the road (Baltimore, Carolina, Atlanta & Philly with the Giants sandwiched in as the only home game). They could be staring at 3-6 or 2-7.

Yeah, but he had Joe Montana infront of him for all those years with the 49ers before he really ever got to shine, or he would have been a starter sooner.

Rodgers def. has the potential to be a great QB. he studies his ass off and knows that playbook inside and out.

if he can stay consistent...i can def. see him winning @ least 1 more super bowl (if not 2) and another 1 or 2 MVP's before he's done.

i'm way happier w/him than i ever was w/favre. u very rarely see Rodgers make the same mistake 2x.

Santonio Holmes is officially out for the season with a Lisfranc foot injury. The Jets have signed former Jags and 49ers receiver Jason Hill to take Holmes' roster spot.

I'm not saying differently. What I'm saying is that Romo takes _all_ of the blame from a hell of a lot of people.

Quote:

No, he's not. When he has a bad game, people immediately jump to "same old Romo". This is exactly what you did here. People remember the 4 INT debacle against Detroit last year. Did you remember that he only had 6 INTs the entire season beyond that? That he was in the best 1/3rd of starting QBs for total interceptions last year? No, you don't. Instead you think he's the same old Romo.

Quote:

Romo is under a microscope. Every last mistake he makes is blown up by 1000x.

If Brady can directly cost his team a big lead by throwing 4 picks (Buffalo last year), then anyone can have a bad game.

But when Romo does it...OMG he's the worst player _ever_. He's not allowed to ever have a bad game. Because people will remember his 1 bad game over the next 20 good games he has. Eli gets huge credit for 5 4th quarter comeback wins last year. Romo had 4 and gets zero credit. And Romo could have easily had more if not for crap like the Dallas coach icing his own kicker.

Quote:
Of course if the Cowboys got rid of Romo they would probably take a step back but then again maybe they don't the way rookie Qb's come into this league and take off.
I've been listening to the Romo talk the last couple of days, and I really think it boils down to the belief in the rest of the talent of the Cowboys.

For some reason, people believe Romo is surrounded by a ton of talent, and always has been. What I believe, is that Romo is surrounded by almost no talent. This is what I mean by seeing the Star and not the player. Jones is the worst offender here. He'll see a guy make one play on defense and give the guy an 8.5 million dollar contract. For a guy who just isn't that good.

If this were baseball, with no salary cap, Jones could afford these mistakes. But it isn't, and so Dallas is riddled with these guys.

What's worse is, even the spots where Dallas has talent they have no backup talent. This is why I believe that Dallas fades in November/December. As people get hurt you have to rely on these backup guys. And even if you believe Dallas starters are good, the backups are dreadfully bad.

I am a Romo fan. I am not, actually, a Cowboys fan. I live in Dallas and watch a ton of football so am "forced" to watch every Cowboys game. And I just don't see anything special on the Cowboys that would warrant the belief that Romo is the problem.

*EDIT*If Romo is a bad player, then he is the biggest statistical aberration in any sport, all time.

i don't think Romo is bad, but it's just easier to see his mistakes than any positives.

Brady gets to throw 4 picks against the Bills because 3 has three SB rings to justify a bad game here or there, Romo has... 1 playoff win in at least 5 or so seasons.

people will almost always remember:

the botched hold against Seattle
the INT against the Giants when they were the #1 seed and 13-3 (which ironically enough i have no memory of what he or the Cowboys did this season to be 13-3 )
bad decision making / bad picks

Romo doesn't have enough 'good' moments to counter his 'bad' moments imo.

Romo is... an above average quarterback with spurts of greatness and spurts of terribleness. and he's on a team that everyone watches 24/7 (apparently...) and sports stations always babble about. if he was on... Tennessee, if the entire Cowboys roster was the Tennessee Titans (or any number of teams) he would probably just be looked at as an average quarterback who's time may be running out, not someone who is "the worst quarterback ever" or something.

and, imo, Romo doesn't seem like much of a team leader. he just... doesn't have that spark of fire or determination to rally the troops. everyone kind of just does their own thing, and while not every QB needs to be the one guy everyone rallies around, Dallas has no one (not even Ware imo) and Romo's demeanor looks like someone who is kind of a push-over of sorts. you never see him fired up or getting the guys together. granted you don't want a whiney Jay Cutler, but you need... something. i've never seen that in Romo. after a loss he's just all kinds of, "gee golly shucks. this one is on me, i should have played better. we know what we have to do" loss in and loss out.

The point isn't that Romo is on Brady's level. It's that _every_ QB has bad games. Romo isn't allowed to.

And people don't remember that Romo had this game won if not for a wide-open dropped pass by Patrick Crayton.

Both of these are, unquestionably, the old Romo. It was only ~4 years ago that Romo said "I'm throwing too many interceptions, I need to stop". And his interception numbers since are up there with the best in the league. Aaron Rodgers is better, but he's a freak of nature. But during this span they are better than Brady. Better than Big Ben. Better than Eli Manning. Better than Philip Rivers.

Quote:

Again, a trademark of the old Romo, that people keep applying to the newer Romo. Nobody cares that of those interceptions two were 100% the receivers fault, and two were when the game was almost out of reach so Romo was pressing, and they probably wouldn't have won anyway. And the 5th I still can't figure out why it was ruled an interception and not a fumble (not that that makes it better).

Quote:

Sure he does. Like I said above he's had a boatload of game winning 4th quarter drives. His good moments outnumbers his bad moments by a lot. He could throw one bad pick a year and people would still go "Yep, same old Romo", as long as the Cowboys aren't winning Superbowls. And with the talent around him no QB is taking Dallas to a Superbowl.

Can't disagree here.

Romo is always over talking to his receivers after they make colossal screwups, explaining what they did and what they should do instead. But that's all, just talking. Not yelling. Apparently if you aren't a yeller it doesn't count.

Anyway, I'll stop. I'm certainly not going to change the mind of anyone who dislikes him.

All I'll add is that as a Cowgirl hater I'm really pulling for all the Romo lovers out there to get their way and have Romo retire a Cowgirl in the very distant future. Stay strong guys! Never back down! Fight the good fight!

NFC West is amazing, just 2 years ago they were the worst division in football and now they're one of the best.

They have 5 super bowl appearances in the past 14 years too.
