FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) Atlanta Falcons coach Bobby Petrino said Monday there will be "significant discipline" for cornerback DeAngelo Hall, whose meltdown played a crucial role in the loss to Carolina.

Despite shutting down receiver Steve Smith through most of the Panthers' 27-20 win Sunday, Hall lost his cool and drew three penalties for 67 yards on Carolina's game-tying drive in the third quarter.

Hall, enraged by the penalties, then engaged Petrino and assistant coach Joe Whitt Jr. in heated sideline tirades.

At one point, Hall had to be restrained by three players.

Hall earned his second straight Pro Bowl berth last season, but his status for next week's game against Houston is uncertain.

"We certainly don't like the actions that took place on the field and do not like the actions that happened on the sideline and that's something that we'll deal with," Petrino said. "There will be substantial discipline. It will be handled in-house."

When asked if Hall faces a possible suspension, Petrino said "We haven't come to any conclusions yet. We're keeping all our options open, but we certainly will do something."

Hall complained after the game that each of the three penalties were called by the same referee. He said he and Smith were "jawing back and forth" but only he was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.

"The calls could have easily went the other way," Hall said. "They went against us. We didn't catch a break the whole day. It was just typical of the season right now. We're just not catching breaks."

And he tried to fight Mike Smith a few years back.

Foles looked damn good in preseason. I know it's preseason, but it's clear the Eagles are moving on from Vick after this season. Might as well put the kid in there and get him some experience before next season.

Tannehill says he's optimistic to play next week. Already had an X-ray, MRI tomorrow.

Tannehill says hyperextended knee and deep thigh bruise.

Tannehill said he could've played in an emergency situation today but wasn't worth the risk with the big lead.

Definition of a hyperextended knee from the Mayo Clinic:

"A hyperextended knee occurs when the knee is bent backward, often as a result of landing wrong after a jump. A hyperextended knee can damage ligaments, cartilage and other stabilizing structures in the knee.

A knee injury severe enough to cause swelling, pain or instability should be evaluated by a doctor immediately. Even if the injury doesn't need surgical repair, physical therapy may be needed to help restore leg strength and stability. "

I would never consider the Saints an easy game as long as they have Brees.

Should be a couple of shoot outs there.

And you never know which Cowboys team is going to show up.

In hindsight, it was good you didn't trade Moore. He's a very capable backup.

Ryan could have stopped and continued up the field during that play, If Landry had let up Ryan could have kept going, that was a no win situation for him, as for Hall, that shows Smiths class trying to fight him on the sideline instead of controlling his team.
