Maybe the owner lied to him but the coaching staff did not. It was obvious from day 1 with the Jets that Rex Ryan and the coaching staff didn't want anything to do with this guy. The owner made that deal for no other reason than to grab headlines and sell jerseys. The fact that the only two teams who wanted anything to do with Tebow were the Jets and Jags tells you all you need to know.

I'm not sure what "good guy" has to do with anything anyway. Nice guys don't win NFL games. I'd rather have a very talented but lousy POS as QB (Roethlisberger for example) on my team than a nice guy who sucks like Tebow. I'm sure pretty much every NFL fan would agree with me.

Three teams. Green Bay was interested in him.

Well whoever did lie to him about how many snaps a game he would get should be ashamed of themselves. It clearly wasn't Ryan, so it was either the owner or GM. Tebow is a really good guy and never deserved to be lied to, that's what I meant how the good guy comment. When you acquire a player you don't plan on using much, just be honest man.

People say stuff like this, but what is the situation where you are taking Tom Brady out of the lineup to make use of Tebow? Brady would probably flip the sideline the finger (so-to-speak) and stay in anyway.

He doesn't even fit on the Patriots IMO. What does the hoodie hate more than anything else? Distractions. The guy says nothing about nothing in every interview and expects his players to do the same - just ask Wes Welker. Tebow brings a carnival atmosphere to any team. There's no way the Patriots want anything to do with that.

If we make it past 12/21/12, that means the Jaguars are going to pull the stunning upset against the Patriots.

Go Jaguars!

I agree with others who say Tebow wouldn't fit on the Pats. So far today I've heard Mike Greenberg from Mike & Mike and LaDainian Tomlinson say they could see the Patriots finding a way to use Tebow, but unless he's willing to move to a different position I don't see how. I know they love Florida players and were rumored to be interested in him before the draft (which may have been completely fake interest, like with Vernon Gholston), but the Patriots are not going to take Tom Brady off the field for even a play if he's healthy. It's like when Michael Vick was a free agent and there were rumors that the Patriots would go after him, and Patriots owner Bob Kraft said they had no interest because they already had the best quarterback in the league.

Well he's not a fit anywhere in the NFL as a quarterback. But as a hybrid WR/TE, I think he could find an effective niche. Anytime you have third or fourth and inches put him in at fullback. Either let him block or feed him the rock.

Sure, and I think he should give Full Back or Tight End a try.

He seems to have too much pride to give up QB though.

ESPN has announced their punishment for Rob Parker saying RGIII isn't truly black:

Quote:
“ESPN has decided to suspend Rob Parker for 30 days for his comments made on last Thursday’s episode of First Take,” Keegan said. “Our review of the preparation for the show and the re-air has established that mistakes both in judgment and communication were made. As a direct result, clearly inappropriate content was aired and then re-aired without editing. Both were errors on our part. To address this, we have enhanced the editorial oversight of the show and have taken appropriate disciplinary measures with the personnel responsible for these failures. We will continue to discuss important issues in sports on First Take, including race. Debate is an integral part of sports and we will continue to engage in it on First Take. However, we believe what we have learned here and the steps we have taken will help us do all that better.”
Dang, I was really hoping he'd get fired. The writer of the the linked story below thinks Parker deserved a more serious punishment considering that Sportscenter anchor Max Bretos got the same punishment for asking about Jeremy Lin “If there’s a chink in the armor, where can Lin improve his game?” Bretos' wife is Asian and it was clear he was in no way being racist but he still got a 30-day suspension.

I think eventually he'll realize he's not cut out for the NFL and walk away. He's not doing himself or anyone else any good standing around and holding a clipboard (assuming Ryan even entrusts him with that) on the sidelines each Sunday.

LOL I call it like I see it, Ponder and Tebow both should've been mid to late round picks, still think Tebow should become an H-back, would probably excel in such a role. My team is not that good, sure we've won 5 of 6 but we've done it against mostly bad teams and none of those wins were pretty. I do think we'll beat the Saints, especially if we go up big early but I greatly discount our chances to beat the Redskins with the division on the line.

He's right though. Ponder is terrible. Even on draft day people were scratching their heads when he went #12 overall. AP carries that offense.

lol its hilarious to read his comments on the 13th on twitter, and the ones from the 19th... He isn't sorry, just scared he'll be even more irrelevant than he already is.

I hate that bum.

He's always been a douche, but his comments on RGIII made him a downright ahole. He certainly seems to have racial issues.

+1

Ponder's career at FSU was plagued by frustrating inconsistency, a "good" division I QB at best. I think a big factor that attracted scouts was his intelligence and with that, his ability to quickly learn an NFL playbook.

I still think that whole segment was pre-planned. The whole thing came off as contrived rather than off the cuff. He probably took the light punishment to cover for his producers who pushed that show segment. Controversy sells.

I don't know. Everyone looked pretty uncomfortable when he made that comment. I think the worst thing he said was about his hair.
