it would do no one any good if he leaves. a young QB who has success and chemistry with the OC needs to have that OC for at least another year or two. look at what happened with Alex Smith (no, not saying they are the same caliber, but as an example of what happens with rotating OC's and HC's) when he had to deal with constant change.

Washington better hope like hell they hold on to him.

Every year John Gruden's name comes up for every head coaching job imaginable and every year he turns them down to keep his cushy analyst job. I'll bet this offseason will be no different. He just seems to like the attention. He was an overrated coach anyway.

Reports out of Chicago indicate Gruden wants to stay on TV

The Chicago Tribune reports Jon Gruden is now "leaning hard" toward staying at ESPN, and "turning down coaching feelers."

Consider it the latest episode of As the Gruden Turns. Gruden is subject to more rumors and innuendo than Lindsay Lohan, but has never truly come close to leaving ESPN since he was hired in 2009. This could just be a leverage ploy, but if Gruden has turned down coaching overtures three years running, what's a fourth? At this point, we wouldn't consider him likely to abandon Mike Tirico.

In other news Spygate mastermind Josh McDaniels will be staying with the pats and has decided to turn down all coaching opportunities

Patriots OC Josh McDaniels has decided not to interview for head coaching jobs.

McDaniels would reportedly like to coach again one day, but has decided to remain loyal to the organization that provided him with a soft landing after he went down in flames as the Broncos' head coach and lasted just one season as the Rams' offensive coordinator. Perhaps he fancies himself as Bill Belichick's eventual successor.

So when is the announcement of Jerry Jones firing himself going to come about? Sucks that Lovie got fired. Sure his overall record is lacking but the Bears did good this year, for the first half anyway. Maybe a new coach can take them to the next step.

If they had finished 6-10, he'd be fine. But they started 7-1 and missed the playoffs. That's the unacceptable part.

Jerry is never going to fire himself as long as most Cowboys fans are satisfied with being almost good every year and keep being all right with no more rings. I wish other fans would care enough to hit him where it hurts and make him change his ways but they won't.

I know he loves the Cowboys, and that's where it's going to be very difficult for him to sell the team when the time comes. but he's what, 70? and as much as he loves the team, watching every game and having these disastrous results cannot do well for a man's health at any age - someone in his family should seriously talk to him about relinquishing at least a little control, for the sake of the future of the franchise.

he has three kids, all of whom work for the Cowboys, he should let one of them (this is if he doesn't feel comfortable with someone outside the family owning the team) begin to learn the ropes of the business / drafting and such and slowly but surely fade away. he's going to turn this team into the Raiders for god's sake...

although, in a way, they already are, just a more glorified version of them and a little better on the field.

It's not like they blew up though, just finished 3-5. Sure, they didn't finish strong but 10-6 is a good record. I probably would have fired him too but it just sucks to see him go. Seems like a really good guy.

Yeah it looks like mediocre is okay with the majority of Cowboys fans. Seems like going to a Cowboys game is more of a social thing and not a football thing. Dallas fans are moving into the territory of one of the worse fan bases IMO. No offense directed to you Darth or anyone else.

EXACTLY! I would be willing to bet his kids will be in the same mind frame as him so if they take over the team for him nothing will change.

Really? i've never heard of him being a cancer, he's actually a pretty nice guy, I met him here at work once when he brought his Mercedes S63 in for service... Guess we wont be seeing him again

lol in a sport that some how finds a way to increase in popularity, he'd be a fool to sell his product. I could see if the sport continues to grow his franchise doubling in 10 years.

He'd still be fired..his overall results would still be the same. And that's how the Bears front office looked at it. One playoff appearance in 6 years, lowly ranked offense (15th was the highest during the Superbowl run), 3 playoff wins in 9 years, 2 home playoff losses, can't beat the Packers (1-8 last few seasons). Him saying "Go Pack Go" yesterday was sickening. If the Bears could have beaten them once this season we wouldn't have needed them to win yesterday to get into the playoffs.

The only thing that might have saved him would have been another season ending injury with Cutler & Forte...which happened last season.
