some thoughts on today's games...
  • Defense wins championships? Ravens and Broncos have great / very good defenses most of the season and they both score over 30+ points. 49ers have a solid defense and were the only defense to pretty much show up and gave up only 14 points and one garbage time TD, and the Packers... oh the crappy D of the Packers doing what they do best - giving up a bazillion rushing yards.

  • John Fox / Denver's OC should likely be fired. Numerous drives Denver stalled out by running it on 3rd and 3 or so. you have one of the best QB's "of all time" and you run up the middle with your back-up HB for no gains two straight plays and then punt? numerous times? and then you have 30 seconds and 2 timeouts and don't even TRY to move the ball? you take an effin' knee?!

  • Two very dumb mistakes on Packers and Broncos defenses today. of course, the Broncos mistake goes down as probably the dumbest / worst decision i have ever seen in my life. why you pull up on that pass and try and swat it away when you are 5 yards away from the ball is ridiculous. especially when you are the last defender, up by 7 with 30 seconds left. HORRIBLE decision that will make that defender a man without a job in a week or less.

  • Raji's hilariously bad off-sides on 4th and 1 is terrible but the game was over already (down by 14 w/ 3 mins left) so it won't look as bad in the long run, but still, was so stupid. but that's not a surprise

  • Kaepernick - kid is a stud. only 2 other QB's have run for 2 TD's and thrown for 2 TD's in the same game, and while yes, one of those QB's is Jay Cutler, i think it's safe to say that Kaep is already better than Cutler ever was or will be. looks like Smith will be on free agency by the end of the season as Kaep should be the 49ers guy going forward, no questions about it. he played like a champ and the best part was he recovered shockingly well after throwing the pick six

  • looking forward to seeing Seattle continue Atlanta's woeful playoff run and watching Tom Brady likely demolish the Texans, but then again, that's what i thought the Broncos would do

  • would be interesting to see three of the four teams from last year's championship games back again! (NE, BAL and SF). and while i'd love the Texans to win and make it to the Super Bowl to make it a very fun and fresh SB, i doubt that will happen but you never know

I do hope Alex Smith gets another chance to start somewhere. He's not a bad QB and better than quite a few starting QB's around the NFL. He was just in the unfortunate situation where his backup ended up being better than he was. I wouldn't mind it if the Jags ended up with him. He's definitely better than Gabbert.

He's a decent QB.. definitely a starter on a NFL team. He'll excel in short passes...and game management. He NEEDS a team with good defense though. Otherwise, I can see him going 8-8 record. Last year, the kicker Akers had the most points score on the team because Alex can't score TD in the red zone. Once in the red zone, the short passes are predictable.

Anyhow, good luck to Alex Smith on another team. I want all his fans to follow him too

I have no doubt he'll be starting somewhere next year, hopefully the 49ers can get a second or third rounder for him

Chiefs, Cardinals, Jaguars, Vikings, Cowboys, Philadelphia, Buffalo, NY Jets, and Browns (imo) could all take a serious look at Smith this off-season.

Romo may do well (or bust) with the pressure of being replaced and the rest of the teams really don't have a sure-fire starter (including the Jets, no matter what Ryan's tattoo says)

I love how the guys on NFL network kiss A$$ now. Even when most of everyone thought the pack win.

Thanks, they played well up until that fumbled punt. Really hoping it is our year though.

The knee. WTF! I was flabbergasted when that happened. Soon as he went down I screamed "f***ing WHAT!" at the telly. Couldn't believe it.

Even if the worst happened and they lost possession to the Ravens in that last 30 seconds, they would have had a much lesser chance of scoring then than on the first possession of overtime - and the Ravens had no timeouts left (I think).

Kaep impressed the hell out of me (combined with their offensive line). Quite a versatile QB and good instincts.

I don't get to see too many games down here in Oz, and it's the first time I'd seen him play.

I'd call him awesome if he stopped kissing his bicep like a douche-wad.

Very classy!

Kapernick is for real man.

Sigh, why can't my Browns ever get just ONE player of this caliber?

Yeah man it was gonna look like an offensive shoot out but after that fumble and INT we lost all momentum proud of my team either way

Yes. I don't know what they has to do with the fact that the Seahawks put up 50 on 2 terrible teams. Or do you not think Arizona and Buffalo were terrible?

It's not fair whats happening to Alex Smith after having to deal with 6 different Offensive Coordinators and 4 different Head Coaches since being drafted. As soon as he starts playing well his backup takes his job which is BS and a total dick move by Jim Harbaugh.

Hopefully he can get traded to a team where he is appreciated.

Like I said he really didn't do nothing to lose the job. Just get a concussed for that one game. I mean he should have at least had a shot to win the job back. But I guess I should just be happy they are winning like some have said. But good to see I'm not the only one who thinks that.
