Ah, yes, the 'leave if you don't like it' statement. If Rosa Parks had just shut up and sat down, if people just accepted whites only drinking fountains and restrooms.......

Kaepernick and the Forty Niners are donating money. One million from Kap, another million from the team to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the San Francisco Foundation, as well as all the proceeds from his skyrocketing jersey sales. So yes, he is putting his money where his mouth is.

His protest is harmful to no one. No riots, no blocking of any commerce. But it is offensive, apparently, to those that feel that we live in a country where the rights in the Constitution are only allowed as long it doesn't tick people off. He is calling out the inequities he sees, and wants to call attention to it. Hey, guess what, it's working. We are talking about it.
Unless you are a black man getting pulled over for DWB, or being followed by security in a department store nonstop, and so forth, perhaps you just don't see the social injustice that is pervasive in certain areas of this country. No one is saying America is totally fair or ever has been, but improving it is always paramount to all of its citizens. Calling for it's improvement should never be called un-American.

He has the right to sit or kneel or dance around during the anthem. He has the right to talk about his opinion, and you have the right to not agree with him. I don't necessarily agree with it either, but I would have a hard time putting myself out on that stage knowing the reaction I would get. I don't have a problem going into a firefight, but I'm not keen on getting torn up by the media and every yahoo with a keyboard.

There are plenty of countries that mandate standing and saluting a flag or a leader by rule of force. This isn't one of them, and many people have died defending the rights given to us so that we may live in the land of the free.
