Big mistake he made was running the ball on i think it was 3rd & goal on last drive.
When rb got stuffed he had to burn a TO.
So now with only 2 TOs they had to onside kick.
Otherwise if they had 3 TOs they couldve kicked off - held SF - got the ball back just needing a FG to tie.

I freaking LOVE the fact the Chiefs are dogs for the SB. Keep the heat on in that locker room. It's the World vs the Chiefs. Mahomes with a Chip on his Shoulder is my favorite version of Patrick.

I really think Justin Tucker's poking the bears (Kelce/Mahomes) during warm ups was just the kind of thing that really brings out the best in them. It didn't take place during the game, but it had an impact (IMHO).

The dropped passes lost it for my Lions IMHO!

I honestly never thought I'd see the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in my lifetime, let alone win. I just wish my dad had made it to see this.

It’s easy to point to Dan and say “he lost it for Detroit”. Dan is why Detroit has won so many times and led us this far - and a big part of that are the gambles that he often wins. SF made crucial adjustments during halftime, Detroit made mistakes in second half. Receivers couldn’t catch and dropped passes. Gibbs with the rookie fumble. Aiyuk with the lucky catch. And the punt that could have been downed at the 2 yard line but the player stepped out of bounds. So many things that went wrong and added to the “choke” well beyond Dan’s control. I do not blame him for this loss.
you are absolutely right. You stick with the horse that got you there. that's his personality, his team. If those 4th down plays worked, he would've been praised but Reynolds dropped a catchable ball. It wasn't just a one play, it was several small plays and the momentum just swung, its football, it happens.
Grats to your Lions though on a great season. I expect you guys to be in the mix next season.

weather conditions were good but Moody missed one in the first half that I believe was 48 yds, he's a rook though and I am just glad the game didn't come down to him.

Yup Olsen pointed this out when it happened. the thing is it was a tale of two halves. Lions were running all over the Niners in the first half. Momentum swung in the second and Niners started stuffing the run. Had the run resulted in a score, Campbell would've been praised. But yes, should've been all pass plays, if pressured, throw it out of the back of the end zone.

eh Chiefs are dogs in name only really, initial line had Niners at 2.5 pt favorites, not sure what it currently is but probable to move. They are the reigning champs and I would never discount Mahomes, Reid. Kelce decided to show up in the playoffs. Defense has been great. Then there is the ghost of the last SB matchup where Chiefs came from behind. Thats an uphill climb for the Niners.

I live in KC and have sports talk on in the background, so I hear a lot of locker room interviews and comments caught on the mic.

The Chiefs are living off the doubters...it's fueling them. As Eric Bieniemy said, Patrick is a "competitive prick". That's why I eat up Vegas furthering the underdog narrative.

Do the Niners deserve to be favored when you look at their season in total and their stacked roster...yes. But, after these last two (away) Playoff victories after watching all the games this season at least a couple of times each. I love the playoff version of this season's Chiefs....I think they have better than a boxer's chance.

I had a bad feeling after that dropped pass on 4th down. Yes he gambles a lot, but that was not the time. A field goal puts them up 3 scores and answers the FG by the Niners. Why risk creating a momentum changing play when you are up big on the road?

Lions blew it in all phases of the game in the 2nd half.

Offense, defense, special teams, coaching

You have to take the points and kick the FG to tie it up at 27

Whatever it takes to motivate a team, but this comes off as phony. The Chiefs have been the NFL darlings pretty much since Mahomes took over as the starting QB, not to mention the SB favorites heading into each season. They are a modern dynasty so the “vs everybody” mentality is just silly.

When I woke up in the middle of the night after the Raiders Game on Christmas day....I would have admitted I didn't think the Chiefs had any chance of getting past the divisional round (and maybe not that far).

The Offense has been fairly limited during the regular season (team with the most drops and Minus 11 on turnover ratio). Yes our def was #2 overall....but, the Ravens proved even with the #1 def, a team can have an off day.

Look back at the power rankings the second half of the season, I don't think many were believing in the Chiefs. So, yes they had a legitimate chip on their shoulder. Maybe I'm too close to the trees to see the forest?

Chiefs definitely took a step back roster wise and still reached the super bowl.

I think the Chiefs playing on the road for the first time in the playoffs with Mahomes had more to do with them not being favored in their two playoff games and that’s really not an unreasonable thing. But it’s also not a reason to think they are being disrespected lol.

offense, defense, coaching all a bit debatable but curious as to your reasoning for special teams. their kicker was 1/1 on FG. One PR for 10 yds. No KR.
Punted twice for 54 yd avg. Are you saying the one punt they failed to down inside the 1 was the failure on special team? Because that was very close, guys momentum barely carried him into the endzone.

yeah at lunch I saw the line was 1.5 and now lower so this Chiefs as the dogs narrative is a bit silly. If they were say a 6+ pt underdog I could see the underdog story as legit but at the moment its essentially a pick em.
If you want to say the media wrote them off because they struggled this season compared to years past sure, but its a stretch at this point now that you are in the SB and the line is so low.

At least he now admits it was mistake:

55.5 million viewers for taylor/lamar that makes it the most watched afc champ game ever.
56.3m for det/sf.

That's exactly a fail. You never go into the end zone with your feet touching the ground. You only ever leap into the end zone to bat the ball backwards.
