So Aaron Rodgers can open the season with a narrow loss to the defending Super Bowl champions next year just like the Saints did this year.

I'm just curious whom you blame for Romo's botched FG hold in the playoffs a few years back and some of his ill-timed INTs (e.g., the recent one that sticks out in my mind is his INT to Reevis when the Cowboys blew like a 2TD lead in the 4th quarter to the Jets early in the season).

I mean even when you guys got like 7+ pro bowlers, that was mostly fandom, and overrated bias. They've never surrounded him with the consistency needed where it isn't all on him. He's not 100% off the hook, he throws across his body, and sometimes lacks what I feel is the appreciation for the moment, and that it should be taken seriously, not like its a backyard game.

I truly doubt if you stuck Eli in Washington, Dallas, or anywhere else with not only erratic fan base's, but also with erratic ownership, he wouldn't have one super bowl, and we'd be talking David Carr bust (talent but broken). Say what you will about the terrible NY media/fan pressure, to the credit of the franchise they have stood behind both him, and Coughlin for a long, long time.

The media tried to fire Coughlin in the middle of both seasons that ended up producing Super Bowls...

I'd have to say no on that one, there was quite a bit of speculation that Coughlin would be fired if they missed the play-offs, imagine he has one of the longest leashes in the NFL now with 2 rings though.

Giants defense has held some of the top offenses in the league to 17 (SB42), 20 ('11 Packers) and 17 (SB46) points. Held opponents to 13.5 ppg this postseason which is better than the #1 defense Steelers in the regular season who gave up 14.2 ppg.

But all we'll hear for the next year is how Eli is hall of fame worthy.

Godamn Pollard screwed NE again. A healthy Gronk would've been the difference in the game.

See below. And all that matters inside of the locker room is if the guys know management is behind whats in place, and I doubt you could with a straight face tell me that kind of support is going on in places like Dallas and Washington.

If you watch the replay he still almost made it in himself, which I think is quite impressive. That being said it is still on him.

Can someone tell me why Brady didn't throw the ball to the player that was wide open on the last play?

Nobody was around him for about 15 yards.

And that's bad because? Anyone who thinks Eli didn't have an elite season is crazy. Eli deserves elite status heading into next season. Brees, Brady, E. Manning, P. Manning (provided he comes back) and Rodgers are the elite tier heading into next season.

65% 9-1 TD-INT 1215 yards 103 QB rating for the playoffs is elite. Did the golden boy put up those numbers this postseason? Nope.

65% 9-1 TD-INT 1215 yards 103 QB rating for the playoffs is elite to go along with an excellent regular season. Did the golden boy put up those numbers this posseason? Nope.
Eli is above elite at this point; he's a lock for the Hall of Fame.

In addition to the things you said, he has two last-minute game-winning TD drives in the Super Bowl against the dynastic Patriots under his belt.

I still think that if the 49ers won against the giants they could have beaten the Pats. But thats just me though.

I blame Parcells for the botched hold. The starting QB should never be the holder and once Romo replaced Bledsoe they should have gone to a new holder. I know Romo wanted to stay the holder but the starting QB has way too much going on to worry about holding the football and he should have been replaced by either a backup QB or the punter.

Sorry dude but i'm going to have to disagree here, and agree with everything Ferris said... I have not one bit of sympathy for this guy, he's got all the fame in the world, 3 super bowl rings (one which he should of never won ) a beautiful super model wife, all the money he will ever need... Cant really feel sorry for a guy who has everything in the world

Only thing i'll say is that I agree that he's one of the best qb's of our time, and respect the fact that I got to see him play

This is the best article of analysis I've yet read about yesterday's Super Bowl:

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...tch-disappoint

Some great points and interesting notes about Eli Manning's two playoff runs statistically, about some of the lucky bounces that went the Giants' way (though I didn't see any mentions about the fortuitous bounces on the two punts), about Belichick's decision to challenge the Super Mario catch, about Belichick's decision to let Bradshaw into the end zone, and about the Giants' 12-men-on-the-field penalty that took eight seconds off the clock with under 20 seconds remaining.

Recommended reading.

Yeah, I love Gronk but by the end of the 1st quarter it was clear he was nowhere near 100% and was holding back the offense. He wasn't an effective decoy either, because the Giants quickly realized how slow he was playing and didn't need to double team him. I would have rather had Ochocinco at 100% than Gronk at 50%.

It was clear in the opening warmups that he was running at half-speed. I saw this and instantly said to my buddy, "I bet you he finishes with under 50 receiving yards."

I do respect him for trying and playing through the injury, mad props to Gronk for that!
