According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers "do not believe (Rashard Mendenhall) will be of much use" during the 2012 season.
The Post-Gazette even suggests Mendenhall, who tore his right ACL on January 1, may have played his last down for the Steelers. Mendenhall is entering a contract year, and the gloomy reports on his 2012 outlook suggest his knee injury may have been more extensive than team has let on. Writes reliable beat reporter Ed Bouchette, "Sources told me that the Steelers will not count on Mendenhall returning to form until at least the 2013 season."

Well there's a loser mentality if true. Guess it never was about winning a second championship. As far as "circus atmosphere" how is Denver any less so given he's taking Tebow's job and running him out of town?

I don't think Peyton wanted to play for a division rival of the Colts. I thought he might be intrigued by the 49ers, but I can't really see him and Harbaugh coexisting. I guess running Tebow out of town is the least negative to him?

Dolphins released Yeremiah Bell, our leading tackler last year...

He was due $6.2M, and he's 34, but we needed his leadership.

Sounds like his coverage skills were diminishing, sometimes you have to make cuts like that for the good of the team.

You only need cuts if you plan on spending it elsewhere. Nothing I've seen from the Dolphins indicate they're spending money.

There is a salary cap floor now though, so unless they want the over-zealous Goodell to slap them with sanctions they better get to signing people.

We signed R.Marshall and Soliai. I thought Soliai was gone, he earned $12M last season, but we signed him for $6M/year, a huge hometown discount. Denver was willing to give him around $10M/year.

The next step is restructuring Jake Long's contract. We need cap space to sign rookies and add at least one more player.

So I'm guessing Smith is gonna re-sign with the 49ers. Not much else where to go.

Yeah, and they will probably get him cheaper than their original offer now that he doesn't seem to have another option.

Actually no, I read that the same offer is still on the table: 3 year/$24M.

I saw that report on Rotoworld, but that was also before the Garrard signing. They may still be willing to give him that offer, but I don't understand why they would unless they are competing with another team to sign him.

My understanding is that the salary floor doesn't kick in until 2013. Of course I do think we're seeing the deadbeat franchises (namely Tampa Bay) finally starting to spend money this offseason in preparation. Amazing how the Glazers also Manchester United yet never want to spend a dime on the Bucs.

The Jags never should have cut him to begin with. He was a solid starter and probably still can be.

The New Orleans Saints' visits with top defensive free agents Curtis Lofton and Brodrick Bunkley both continued into today, as scheduled. So far there has been no word if the Saints have offered either a contract.

All the qbs and trades, and they take him lol.

So that was an easy out for Elway with the Tebow situation lol now he'll have zero blowback.
