I mentioned this in the Feedback section, but it might be better here.
Sometimes I buy Blus that don't have their cases. I have a supply of both Vortex and Viva on-hand though. But with certain Blus, usually ones from relatively unknown studios, it's hard to find out what cases they originally came in. And for me, I prefer to have my Blus in their original cases. I'll usually look on eBay or Amazon for a pic of a sealed version, but for unwanted/unknown titles, most sellers just use the stock picture. Right now, in a case (no pun intended) like that, I'll look up other titles from the same studio and see what cases they come in. Sometimes I'll come across titles from the same studio with different cases though. And at that point, I'll look up more than one title from that studio and see what the majority use (Vortex or Viva). Now I know studios will sometimes use both types of cases, but I'm talking about ORIGINAL. As in, first wave, first release. Fifth Element for example now comes in a Viva as well. But Vortex is its original case. Since this thread already exists, I was thinking maybe some type of list could be added to it, listing every Blu and what case they originally came in. Obviously a team effort, but I'm sure others would benefit from the list. |

Does anyone know if the 2 disc Viva Elite cases that are sold at megadiscstore.com are the exact same ones that are used for Gladiator?
I received Gladiator a week or so go from Amazon.ca and the case is pretty scratched up around the edges, but the artwork is fine and I just want to replace the case. Thanks peeps. |

Ah shit it's not that bad, I'm just going to keep it the way it is.
![]() I think I don't really want to get into the hassle of replacing cases. If I get a case that is actually busted I'll just return it for a replacement. EDIT: I looked at the Gladiator case again and it's not nearly as bad as I first thought it was so there's no way I'm replacing the case. Last edited by bone crusher; 12-26-2010 at 01:21 PM. |

if you change your mind, here is a great place to pick up single, double or triple viva elite cases. you have to buy a minimum of 25, but it works out to like 15.00 or so shipped (to me, for the singles). not a bad deal.

I'm kinda on the fence about starting to replace BD cases or not. Not sure if it's that big of a deal to me. I don't want to start replacing cases with cosmetic imperfections and all that. I might just forget about it. So many of the places that are selling replacement cases make you buy such large quantities anyway. A few scratches and tiny hairline cracks will just give my collection a little more character anyways! At least it'll all be original. Last edited by bone crusher; 12-26-2010 at 10:16 PM. |

I broke my Transformers case (lower right corner hinge) around last year and didn't think about replacing it until recently. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a replacement for this EXACT same 2-disc Elite case:
[Show spoiler] Anyone knows what other blu-ray movies would have this 2-disc Elite case? Thanks! |

Correct me if I'm wrong:
-official single/double disc Vortex style cases(typically used by Sony)are 11mm thick. -official single/double disc Viva Elite style cases(typically used by Warner/Universal)are 12mm thick.(why do some say 12.5mm ???) Last edited by bone crusher; 12-27-2010 at 12:56 AM. |

as killowertz stated, for small numbers, Casetopia can fill your needs, especially if you are looking for 4-6 disc cases, which are harder to find. that said, if you are looking for a large number of single/double/triple caes, i have found discmakers is the way to go.

So...if I want to buy a replacement case for Gladiator, a 2-disc Viva Elite case, should I be looking for one that is 12mm or one that is 12.5mm?

You should be okay with the 12mm, as 2 posts up said, Snow White is a 3 disc set and 12.5mm. I bought it used so only got the movie -- but no suitable case!

They have the single and double Viva Elite cases that are 12mm but I'm just not sure if these ones have the Blu-ray logo in that is the silvery or if it's the logo that is more of a white color on it. I'd like to hit the order button but I just want to know for sure first. Any help would be much appreciated. ![]() |

I've never ordered from megadiscstore.com but unless they have old stock the discs should be the new silver logo and not the painted on logo. I haven't seen cases with the painted on logo in quite a while now unless the they been sitting around for some time. |
