Went ahead and ordered from Umbrella on Friday.

Deep Discount gave me a refund on my order from them which was pretty effortless.

I actually do like it better than the original. I especially like its version of Barbara a hell of a lot more than the original's.

My brother and I have the DVD. We actually just recently watched it for the first time on his Blu-ray player, and I was surprised by how good it looked. Since it's an older DVD I didn't think it'd look that great on a BR player. The DVD will continue to hold us over until there is (hopefully) another Blu-ray release some day, preferably one that doesn't alter the color timing of the opening sequence.

I got my copy of the 2-Disc LE today (Tuesday). I guess I missed the detail that these are numbered on back... I got a very low # out of 2300. I ordered 3/31, shipped 3/31, and received 4/12.... so 12 days to Washington State. It came in a firm poly/bubble mailer and arrived in pristine condition. Anyone else get theirs yet?

Currently still waiting on mine to make it to New Mexico from JB-HiFi. Thanks for your update! I'll be expecting mine soon

Good to know - Thanks! I wasn't sure how the regular DVD would look on my Blu player & HD set (only previously watched this on my older CRT set), so I appreciate the info. I know some regular DVD's do look decent on HD sets.

So, it sounds like the regular DVD is the way to go here.

I said it before & I'll say it again - this site is the "Consumer Reports" for Blu-rays. Thanks again to everyone for all of your info. on here - it has saved me a lot of money over the years...

Can you post some thoughts on the PQ?

Thx

The other nice thing about the DVD is that it includes the commentary and extras. I also think it looks decent upscaled on a HDTV. The DVD price for "new" on amazon is getting close to $10 with the 3rd party sellers and amazon is no longer selling it directly. I got it for $5 brand new a few years ago. Wonder if it's going out of print. I understand if you're on a tight budget or unwilling to spend much on this movie, but $10 for catalog DVD is a bit much in my opinion. If I was you and I couldn't find a new copy of the DVD anywhere else cheaper, I'd buck up for the Vudu HDX version or the blu-ray import at this point.

I do, too. It helped that I saw this one first, in the theater back in the day. When I got around to watching the original, I kept waiting for
[Show spoiler]Barbara to stop being a basket case and start taking charge, and then she died and I was like "well I guess that's not happening in this version."
I've also always liked Tony Todd's Ben better.

You mean other than the Australian release that a bunch of us just ordered? Any particular reason you'd rather stick with the DVD over this new release?

The Australian version has the commentary, older extras, and a couple of new interviews. Just sayin'...

Thanks. I agree $10 is a little too much to pay for a regular DVD these days. I actually see the '90 NOTLD as closer to $15 on Amazon, and I do agree it's probably going OOP (if it's not already OOP). The Blu is also out of stock, and I don't want to wait for this.

I may just end up streaming this...

Did you guys order from JB HiFi? I've read that if Deepdiscount is not in stock it would take forever to arrive, so I ordered from JB HiFi, then I read a lot of threads on this site about JB taking 4 or more weeks to arrive

You keep asking questions that have already been answered. Is it really that hard to go back a few pages and read the posts for yourself?

Aside from the fact that this new edition has the right color timing, nothing else has been discussed regarding it's PQ since it's a new release and people has just started receiving them.
