Here is the equipment involved: I have the Panasonic UB9000 UHD Player feeding (via HDMI) a Pioneer KURO KRP-600A HD Plasma TV. The Panasonic is also feeding (via it's second HDMI output) a Denon 4700 Receiver. Here is the issue: I have two Panasonic UB9000 players and on BOTH... on some blurays the extra features are playing but ONLY with audio (No picture). Some supplements are fine (I watched Imprint's 'FIRE IN THE SKY' and ALL the supplements played fine)... others are not and I'm only getting the sound (no video - just a black screen). This is 100% replicated on BOTH players with the same discs / extra features. Is there a setting that I have ON or OFF that might be doing this??? Thank you. Here are my current settings (remember I currently have a HD 1080p only TV at the moment - I'm upgrading to 4K shortly). Panasonic UB9000 Settings: Players Settings: Video Format: AUTOMATIC 4K (50p/60p) Output: OFF 24p Output: AUTOMATIC HDMI (Video) Output Mode: AUTOMATIC HDMI (Audio) Output Mode: AUDIO ONLY Dolby Vision Setting: OFF HDR10+ Setting: OFF Advanced Settings: Colour Mode: YCbCr (AUTOMATIC) Deep Colour Output: AUTO (12 BIT PRIORITY) HDR/Colour Gamut Output: SDR/BT.709 SDR/HDR Conv. (Network Service): OFF HLG/PQ Conversion: OFF HDR Display Type: OLED HDCP Output Setting: AUTOMATIC Contents Type Flag: OFF Audio Output: ON 7.1 Ch Audio Reformatting: OFF Picture Settings: Still Mode: AUTOMATIC Seamless Play: ON TV Settings: TV System: NTSC (changing this to PAL doesn't seem to make a difference). Screen Saver Function: ON On Screen Messages: OFF Viera Link: OFF Let me know if you need anything else guys... I appreciate your help. And just to reiterate... I'm only viewing in HD 1080p at the moment due to the direct HDMI connection to the Pioneer KURO, and I'm also using the second HDMI output direct to a Denon 4700 receiver. Cheers!!! ![]() |

It's worth matching the resolution to your display, but can you list some of the titles you have issues with? does the on-screen display work when you press PLAYBACK INFO. on the 9000?

Another thing I would do is change your Optimizer Setting to Basic Luminance since you have an older TV. Last edited by PUsokrJosh305; 02-25-2021 at 11:43 PM. |

[edit] Wait, I didn't realise you just have a 1080p TV. (A 9000 with a 1080p TV. That's fookin hardcore, man.) Forget the above. Try setting video format to 1080p rather than Automatic. |

But what he's saying is that the Panasonic is "static" tonemapper. It reads the data and adjusts what it sends to the TV to do what it pleases. |

![]() [Show spoiler] Which Dolby Vision mode do you use on your display? Regarding brightness it also depends on which setting for Peak Brightness you use for each mode. Either way, with each setting you win some and you lose some.. |

Yes, and again I do apologize for the off topicness (I seem to do that from time to time, especially in the classroom that I teach high schoolers in, haha!) But you are right! I'm talking about my LG C9's tone mapping and dynamic tone mapping. The Panasonic Optimizer's tone mapping is cherry, especially for TV's that can't quite tone map all the way.

As to Peak Brightness, it's always set to "High." Last edited by PUsokrJosh305; 02-26-2021 at 07:33 PM. |

Here are some of the titles so far... BLUE STEEL - German bluray - Trailer plays with sound only. THE INTERPRETER - UK DVD - None of the supplements play with video (only sound). THE VERTICAL LIMIT - UK bluray - as above. Several others... but I can't remember them all. Thank you again! Appreciate it! |

I haven't used the links above, but if you can't source 50Hz content they might be worth a shot. I'd put them on a stick and see if they play with your 9000, as well as your TV if it has playback through USB. Not sure if that's the issue as you seem to be able to play a UK DVD's feature. Does the on-screen pop-up display when the audio is playing? |
