You must come to terms with your lack of experience. How else are you going to learn anything? I'm not sure what you mean by "pure clarity", for starters.

Anyhow, something is wrong with your set-up. You also lack an understanding of what movies should look like.

Did you disable all motion handling and noise reduction on your panel display? Are you using the right picture setting? Members here will help you.

Hello. Does anyone know which selection I should use in the HDR TV type (under HMDI advanced settings) for a Sony 940E? Should it be the mid to high luminance? Or the next level up?

Thanks.

Is there a good place to get the UB9000 remote besides eBay?

The reason I know this is because I have looked at the 'Info' screen showing all the details of the disk. And I toggle between the optimizer on/off. I'm not saying the HDR optimizer doesn't work, I'm saying on 'some' disks it didn't make a difference, whereas tone curve always did.

I also thought it was interesting that the optimizer is disabled on Dolby Vision. The tone mapping on DV is fantastic.
You just mentioned a few posts above that your TV is not calibrated... and we don't know which TV it is. Something amiss indeed.

I'll say this multiple times if I have to...

You buy a streaming or downloaded file from a service and you have basically purchased nothing. They can alter and/or take away your right to the movie or TV show for any reason. If the service goes under or servers go dark, you could lose your entire collection.

Low bitrate video is also a problem besides lossy audio. Lossy Dolby Atmos has been known to not sound as good as the lossless TrueHD version. This may be due in part to how objects are encoded in DD+. Dolby is using JOC (Joint Object Coding) on their lossy audio codecs and this may further reduce spatial resolution.

One reason I will support discs 'til the end... lossless audio.

Only seen it on eBay. £50 is steep but it is a good remote.

There is no argument from me that physical Disk sound destroys sound from a stream. That is a fact.

When I say pure clarity I mean the image is razor sharp and you can see all the details. For me, native 4K has by far the sharpest detail that I can see even from a distance of 8 feet. 2K DI, Upscaled movies (for me) don't see anywhere near as sharp.

Noise reduction sounds interesting. Any idea where this on the LG set up menu?

I thought the Oppo was the best 4K player on the market, hence the price.

Hi Robert.
I have not seen the forum for a while. I could understand it wrong, but are you saying that on June 22 they will stop selling the "Panasonic's UB820 BD player"?

With the 820 I got a free 4K movie of my choice. That was a pleasant surprise.
I went for Blade Runner 2049. One of the best looking movies I have ever seen.

It certainly does Dolby Vision better then 820/9000, unless Panasonic fixed their brightness issue.

Yes the 820/9000 has the HDR10 optimizer, but that advantage doesn’t mean that all the other abilities that Oppo players possess like multi-regional mod kits, home automation interfaces, playing lossless audio/video files from a connected HDD, or NAS that 820/9000 can’t do. The 205 does 7.1 analog via ESS DACS, even.

Simply put the Oppo players sell for a lot more on eBay then the 820/9000. As much as David wishes to debate that he’ll lose.

Now the 820/9000 are both nice products, and Robert fully backs them, so leave it at that.

The best goes picture quality, not for everything it can do..I used to own a 205 that went bye-bye after I saw what the 9000 can do.

Oppo used to be the King. Since then the river's current has intensified.
Nothing lasts forever, the good times have to come to an end in this game...eventually.
And that it did, in certain important picture ways. And it will continue to improve, but not for Oppo, sadly no more.

It's Panasonic game (playing field) now, with friendly competitive sportsmanship from Pioneer and Sony. It's the times we live in right now; the Avengers: Endgame times.
