I have to switch my receiver to blu ray mode when i put in a blu ray from the tv and the hdmi never seems to click on unless i restart the player by turning it off and i have a pioneer receiver. I tried 3 different hdmis and same problem still happens. Oppo has no trouble going from tv sound to receiver with one click. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

So I guess the need for the 820 HDR optimizer for the 2016 TVs is more necessary than the later models.
Absolutely, but just remember the later models don’t get fantastic 3D like the 2016s!! Get a Panny 820 and enjoy the best of both worlds!

How long are the HDMI cables and are you connecting the BD player directly to your LG C9 or going through a receiver?

I just set the 820 to OLED and that's all I need to do for tone mapping?
Do I have to turn off any settings on the LG 2016 TV?

Not sure of the rest of your settings but make sure you have the HDR Optimizer set to on. Push and hold down the HDR button on the remote until you see the screen that says HDR Optimizer(must have 4k disc in player). Then toggle the on/off until it says On.
You should be good to go. Enjoy. Your 4k discs will look just as spectacular as if you were watching on a C7 or C8.

6 feet. One is to tv other is to receiver. This is the most strangest problem i have ever encountered in a new tv. I did a factory reset of the player again by pressing ok for 5 seconds while holding blue and yellow buttons then clicking the 08 option thing on player went through all the options and started up toy story 4k and it still downcoverts the hdr signal to sdr. I went back to home and the hdr signal went to white then regular light. So there must be some weird handshaking problem going on because it is able to load up all the video signals on the player fine but no hdr will go through. HDMI's cables i got is a monoprice 18 gbps, atevon 18 gbps, echogear 48gbps and zeskit 22 gbps all 6 feet.

Quick tip. If you boost the tone curve black a couple of clicks it can definitely improve shadow detail. Very useful for oled.

Does anyone know if the remote for the UB9000 work on the 820?
The main reason to change is the UB9000 has backlit buttons.

Was watching a movie this morning.

The phone rang so I put the movie on pause. After the phone call I decided to make myself a cup of coffee before returning to the movie. When I came back, my 820 had turned itself off.

I didn't ask for this to happen. See what I'm getting at here, Panasonic?

Please fix this issue because that is what it is, an issue.

Thanks.

Depends on your TV and tv calibrations. Put on a dark scene or better yet an hdr test pattern if you have one. Don't boost it too much as it can cause artifacts. On my OLED I believe I have it on +2. Really brings out the shadow details.

Just started another $50 instant rebate on Panasonic's UB820 BD player.

No cutting corners at VE, same exclusive double boxing, free shipping and sales tax for NY residences only. Sorry fellow New Yorkers.

Sale ends June 22nd!
