I had that problem because my model tv could only do Dolby Vision 4K at 30fps maximum, so any 4K60 DV signal gets down converted to DV 1080p60. Disabling DV in the player, I would be able to get HDR 4K60 output.

Thanks for sharing. I had the EXACT same experience.

I'm still having issues where there is no audio coming off of a pause. I have to fiddle with it by rewinding and/or fast forwarding a few times before I get the audio again. Anyone else having this issue?

And I would think we are loooong overdue for a firmware update.

I have had the same issue. It appears to affect any disc I play and pause. I haven't found a solution either and it is kind of frustrating.

Yes. I usually "fix" it by switching to another audio track and then back again which seems to kick off a new HDMI handshake with my receiver.

I had the same issue with my UB420 when running 2 HDMI's out. I switched to only 1 cable out and have not had the problem since.

EDIT: Discovered that the 9000 CANNOT shut its auto timer function off (how stupid is that?) and it does not have an illuminated power/standby light.

Also...is the UB9000 slated for cancellation, does anyone know or suspect? Should it be around awhile?

I ask because I'm on a wait list with an online vendor for the Pioneer LX500, and they have no idea when that deck is coming back into stock...by the time I wait for it (it's been at least a month it's out of stock), the Panny 9000 could be discontinued, and then there are NO premium players to buy...

We're probably gonna order the UB9000 tomorrow from our Best Buy...

I hope I'm making the right decision.

Does anything at the DISPLAY end need to be touched when watching a 4K disc on the UB9000? In other words, I should leave the default HDR settings my Samsung TV goes into, even when using the HDR Optimizer on the player, correct? (that is, Backlight at max, Contrast at max, etc.)

Question for the UB820/9000 community

SClee on a another thread was showing UHD BD media being played with much lower bitrate that what the typical spec. See images under spoiler. Is that normal for his two more reasonable Panasonic players models to be showing? I see UHD BD's being played back usually something between 55 Mbps to 85 Mbps bitrate (combined) most of the time on dual layer, triple layer can go higher. (110 Mbps on some media at times)

He uses Panasonic DP-UB391 and a Panasonic DMP-UB300

Something funky is going on, perhaps they could try a factory reset (if it's happening with all their discs).

I factory reset it and deep colour is activated on the TV. It's the same for two Panasonic 4K players. I can't tell if it's happening on my new one, BP450 as there is no playback button any more. I've bought a couple of premium HDMI cables (thanks to John's recommendation), I'll see if that works.

I popped in a UHD with the FOX studio logo at the start of the disc and it hits 75Mbps.

Not sure if cables will help, I can imagine you'd get drop-outs if they were the issue. Hopefully they will. Your TV's HDMI inputs are set to enhanced (or is under it under the Deep Colour setting you mentioned?)?

I was trying to fins something similar online and AVS UB820/824 thread only mentioned a bug back in April 28/29 2019 against BD's. This being UHD BDs I wonder if its not worse with early FW?

when pressing the PLAYBACK INFO button on the remote control, the player seems to show incorrect video bitrate readings in the Playback Information Window, roughly around 10 Mb/s less than the actual encoding is supposed to be. This happens during regular Blu-ray discs playback, tried random titles, all show similar deviation.
this is a bug, same thing happen with the flagship UB9000. The bug is there from release and no firmware update corrected the wrong behavior yet. Let's hope in the future they will.
A earlier example was also from their UB820/824 thread on 10-20-18

Coming from OPPO I too noticed this, as bitrate was so much higher and Panasonic is much lower. So who's correct as I'm curious myself.
Me to I noticed lower bitrates. With my Xbox one x I was getting bitrates as high 80-100 with some movies. Now most bitrates 40 and lower. Can someone please explain this?
So there could be a bugl that might have been resolved or not via FW?

Geoff owns both players and can certainly compare how this is, others here also own multiple brand 4k players.

I only have the basic 420, but I don't seem to have the issue.

At the moment I'm trying to work out why my player isn't outputting Atmos!
