No, Mode 2 should be what you need to set it on. I would try what I suggested to someone above. Look to see if your HDMI Audio Port is set to Audio Only. If not, it needs to be changed.

The second photo you uploaded shows 4:2:2 12 bit in HDR, same thing I was getting. I found the solution, set Deep Color to Auto (12 bit), and you should get 4:4:4 12 bit in HDR. |

My mistake your right, I'm going to try both methods mode 2 then the Deep Colour option. Though regarding Deep Colour mode does having it on produce processing or artifacting only because I thought having it off was better. Thanks for helping.

I’ve heard that having Deep Color on can cause banding. I didn’t watch anything long enough yet to see if there were any issues.

Used the tried and tested method of punching it after pressing eject and it popped right open and testing with a more expendable disc it ejected just fine multiple times. I'll keep testing it over the next few days. |

Hey,
My Sony X700 has been freezing on UHDs lately and I got fed up with it! I ordered a Panasonic UB820 and it's arriving tomorrow. Is there any other way to make it region free than using the regionfreedom firmware? Given the feedback here, I'm not sure I want to have to deal with them. I saw a region-free UB820 on eBay (sold by TPS) but since it's in the UK, it ended up being twice the price (with shipping and taxes) so I gave up on that option. Thanks! |

I believe the build quality and component selection goes up as you move up in the line. |

I wish I could find a local shop that would do it for me for a reasonable price. (being in France though, not too sure about that) |

If you don't know how to solder then dont try it yourself. An electronics repair shop should be able to do it for you - its only a few wires to connect and I did mine myself. Anyway there is no harm in trying the regionfreedom route despite the strange reputation he has. Just make sure to fill the application correctly

haha. It might help. But if you can't/won't solder its the only option. Its not available for the 450 so rattlebyte was the only way for me. Its much easier to use anyway - just a single keypress to change region while the unit is in standby.

![]() In the worst case, I still have my X700 for region A discs. I'm gonna keep both plugged in. I was just curious to see if the Panasonic can do a better job at upscaling regular BR to 4K. |

I've owned a number of HDFury devices over the years. The first one changed HDMI to VGA for my CRT FPs. I'm not convinced in the superiourity of DV and I am aware it causes people a TON of trouble. Like I heard several people had lock ups with the Knives Out UHD disc and all were DV related problems. The fact is I have no experience at all with DV so I guess I shouldn't speak about it. I'm big on projectors so it hasn't been a must. I will enjoy learning more about it. HDR is likely the worst managed thing ever. Introducing an undefined standard that nothing can playback correctly. I'm fine with HDR10 and HDR10+ From my previous experiences, the HD Fury products do exactly what they claim to do and the only thing better is not having the need for one. I have a Zidoo Z9X arriving today... not sure how awesome that will turn out to be but I believe it can also package DV as HDR10. If the Zidoo is good enough, my UB9000 may go into storage. Everything would’ve been so much easier if they’d never come up with HDR.
It’s pretty wild how far HDFury’s devices have come. My Vertex 2 is so advanced I have no idea what half of what it does is about and unless someone holds my hand, I can never get it to do what I want it to ![]() |
