Maybe they don't have their HDMI inputs set to Enhanced or whatever each manufacturer calls the higher bandwidth mode.

I did have them set to standard. The A90J has both Enhanced Format and Enhanced Format (Dolby Vision). I tried it with both settings, still converts to SDR/709 when color mode is set to 4:4:4.

Dolby Vision seems to work even with HDMI set to standard.

SDR/709 @1080p or 2160p resolution?

If it's 1080p then it's probably an HDCP 2.2 handshake problem...

It happened to me last week

It’s still 4K.

Is 24p set to on or off?

Is the player connected directly to the display or is it going thru an AVR or soundbar?

24P is set to Auto.

The player is connected directly to the TV.

The A90J has two HDMI 2.1 inputs (3 and 4) which support Dolby Vision for consoles, wouldn't the HDMI 2.0 inputs also support Dolby Vision?

If they're rocking the 2.1 inputs then it might be a cable issue, it's worth trying 1 or 2.

Is the 450 as reliable as the 820? It’s rare I have any issues with disc freezing/glitching on my 820. I’m looking at picking up a region free DV capable player. Trying to decide between the 450 and X800M2

Standard SDR blu ray is output 4:4:4 8 bit regardless.

Needless to say, I’ve been keeping it in Auto since I don’t want it converting HDR to SDR.

So Auto is the best setting or is it interacting with another setting?
As a follow up, if I play an SDR UHD like The Great Escape, setting color mode at 4:4:4 gives me 4:4:4 8 bit output, setting it to Auto outputs 4:2:2 12 bit.

If the 450 has anything to do with the 150 then you should get the Sony. Cause the 150 sucks it doesn’t display stuff properly. So get the Sony. But 4K discs are region free. You shouldn’t need a region free one if you already have a region free Blu-ray player.

I just installed the RegionFreedom Firmware on my 824 and it works like a charm.
Codefree and .srt on Blu-Ray with USB here we come :-)
I cannot recommend this enough!

The 450 plays discs perfectly unlike the Sony players (there is enough evidence of that in the Sony threads). The 150 is cheap and nasty.

Would not recommend the Sony.

Hopefully Sony will make a working UHD player next round.

What do you have your HDMI Audio only port setting set to?? I know that if you have both set to Auto, it will not output the video in 4K HDR.

The manual says: "It is not possible to output 3D, 4K, or HDR content from the HDMI Audio Out/HDMI Video Out terminal when "Video + Audio" is selected." Again, this is the HDMI Audio Only Port, not the Video HDMI Port.

I have a Panasonic HZ1000 and UB820, I'm having the same issue.

https://ibb.co/JBk4mth

When I set Ycbr 4:4:4 on Colour Mode. And with HDMI (VIDEO) Output Mode set to Video + Audio, it's still displayed in SDR as you can see in the above picture.

https://ibb.co/jgqbcwk

Now when I set Auto on Colour Mode now it's displaying in HDR at 4:4:4 12 bit. If anyone could help it would be appreciated. The cables are new and I bought them from Monoprice.

On your TV, do you have the HDMI setting on Mode 2??

Listen to the sound, night and day difference if you have the equipment that can reproduce it, e.g. a soundbar will not show the difference.

I don’t think this needs to be discussed more since the difference is massive and a fact. Streaming is more convenient; I give you that, but this is the only advantage. Unfortunately, most people don’t care about quality much, this is why DVD still exists in 2022.
100% agreed. I do streaming too, of a 4k apple tv setup with DV. I also use the A90J oled (although 65 inch), and there's a noticeable difference between streaming and 4K UHD's. Maybe it's because I sit close up, maybe it's because I just have more discriminating eyes, whatever the reason, I see it, and consistently.

Yeah the HDMI Auto Setting is set to Mode 2 since supposedly supports a higher definition signal compared to Mode 1. Should I change to Mode 1 instead? Thanks.
