I have both purchased from remote-control-world.eu
Actually there are more differences on the genuine remotes.

The US ones have slightly different layout than the EU ones and can also be programmed to work with some TV's (volume etc).

That's great news but it seems v1.76 hasn't fixed the DV flickering for Kino's Hard Target release, perhaps the display may have an influence on this behaviour

The player seems to be behaving a little better since I switched back to my older surge protector.

Has that ever happened to anybody? Surge protector making a difference in equipment starting up properly?

Is there any selections regarding the font on external subtitles? I don't know if this external subtitle support would be enough for me to upgrade from dp-ub450, since it would still be a pita to copy the srt file to usb media every time you watch a movie... I guess that it wouldn't be too hard to look for a subtitle file with the same name as the disc title from the external media.

Hey all...just joined this awesome furom. Searched but could not find an answer. Watching Netflix from the UB820 or from my LG C2 makes no difference I assume.

I updated my firmware... I went back to check the scene on the Tenebre 4K (that pixelated and got stuck) and it plays now. Very interesting.

My UB9000 is still working perfectly except for it getting a little hot now. I would not be surprised at all to turn it on one day and the motherboard is fried.

To all with working players in this thread, cheers. I hope they keep working and working for you.
I had a jammed disc again (later discovered the slider under it and opened it that way) but I actually disassembled the player first. As a PC builder I noticed a couple of things -
1) The fan. You should be able to change this fan for a better fan as long as you have the right voltage. They are pretty easy to find from PC hardware dealers. I'm going to take it apart again and have a look at the heatsinks next time - if easily removed better thermal paste of the sort you overclock with would be an improvement. This is because I noticed the fan spins inconsistently and suspect there might be something going on to trigger it only when internal heat reaches a certain point.
2) The drive itself is actually easily removed. It would be trivial to order a replacement part and replace it yourself. It looks (at my first glance) as simple as changing an old PC DVD drive. The model number is clearly visible on the drive.
3) The network card is intriguing. I'm wonder which other ones are compatible with what the Panasonic is presently running or simply pondering how easily one could fit a simple aerial on it to improve the wifi signal.

Very intresting. I have no issues with my unit, but a better fan and thermal paste would likely prolong the life span of the player.

Please report back with your results. If you may.

Are you able to hook it up via HDMI with one cord going from the player to your receiver then from your receiver to the TV? I would try that to see if it helps improve the situation. I think there's a setting within the player settings that you change if your using video and audio with just one HDMI cord. Make sure your HDMI cord is of really good quality to allow for full bandwidth.

Hmm, didn’t throw in the Kino Hard Target. I’ll check that one out tomorrow and see if there is any flickering.

Give it some time; it will probably find it after a while.

The hdmi cords are certified mono cords. I can’t go through the receiver because it’s and older home theater system; can’t give 4K picture going through it. Which is why 1 hdmi goes from the player to my tv and the other goes to the receiver.

It seems to be working better when I turn on the player first; before turning on the tv and receiver.

Bear in mind anything that's modified internally will have its box opened and the cover taken off the player as well as parts soldered on. So it depends on their standards.
Thanks for that information. I purchased my last one from Bombay Electronics on Amazon Canada and the box definitely looked like it was opened. It was packaged up OK and there were no scratches but there were definitely some fingerprints on the outside of the device.

Does anyone know what parts are added to the player internally?

That's good news.

Now I'm going to suggest just hooking it up to the TV (Audio & Video) and not to your receiver ONLY to test and see if it still has issues that way. If not...AND IF your TV has a eARC connection to then send the audio to the receiver via the eARC connection and then test it out again.

I don't know what TV you have, but it probably has ARC or eARC.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean the “cover”? Do you mean the metal housing cover?

As far as I’ve read from this forum, it’s just multi-region blu-ray disks that are impacted because 4K discs are all region-free. If that’s the case, then I might save the $400 since I will mostly watch 4K discs on this player.
