Player 820 randomly decided yesterday not to read any disc I popped in. Displayed disc cannot be read message. Turning it off and on didn’t work. Not till I completely unplugged it for a few minutes then plug it back in did it work.
Any ideas why that would happen? |

If the TV has Dolby Vision (which I believe the LG C1 does), then I would say get the Panasonic. The PS5 does not have Dolby Vision, which the UB820 does and it automatically switches to Dolby Vision if it is present.

I’m looking to purchase a Panasonic UB9000 for a new theatre room using a Sony 6000ES projector. I am trying to decide between the “normal” version and “region free zone”. Does anyone know if there is any difference in image quality between the two? I.e. Do they modify or replace any hardware components?
I purchased my last one from Amazon in Canada and although the unit itself looked OK, the retail box and inside packaging looked like it came from a garage sale. |

That’s a fantastic price. Dolby Vision and the HDR optimizer will both provide significant upgrades over your PS5. Get a good warranty if you can though, my 820 has gotten so unreliable with 4K discs that I’m finally having to replace it.

Bear in mind anything that's modified internally will have its box opened and the cover taken off the player as well as parts soldered on. So it depends on their standards. |

I used 220-electronics and it came in its original box with all original packaging. The only thing that was done was the player removed, the mod done and everything packaged back up. |

Gaming systems are not dedicated disc players so it's absolutely worth it to get the Panasonic. You will also extend the life of your PS5's optical drive if you have another disc player to play movies on.

Sound advice but I have to say that my slim PS3 is a freaking tank. I was initially only using it for Region B titles (it’s modded region free) but with all the issues I’ve had with my 4K players, I started playing all my blu-rays & DVDs on it. It’s a bit loud but otherwise still 100% reliable. Previously had a fat model and that one never failed either. |

I replaced the problematic Sony X800M2 with the Panasonic UB820 almost 2 years ago, and for a year, the player was flawless, but starting this year the UB820 started to get picky with discs too. First it was both of the Blade Runner movies, then came the Superman 5-Movie Collection, and recently the Nightmare before Christmas...
Many other users have indicated similar pixelating/skipping issues too after 8-12 months of use, so is this how blu-ray players age now? Including my previous Xbox One S, this is the third 4K UHD player I had that have disc skipping problems, and I can't be replacing players every other year. To be fair, the UB820 is still the best of the three, and discs that tend to have issues are almost all from WB (Blade Runners, Superman Collection, and god, I have yet to actually play the Game of Thrones collection...), except for this recent release of the Nightmare before Christmas. I rewatched Westword earlier this year, and the whole series played fine unlike what people say about Game of Thrones. So, is this more of a disc issue or player issue? As some of the Panasonic owners on here said they were fine with the Nightmare before Christmas, while I had issues with 2 orders of it... |

Maybe some here can help me
Bought the panasonic ub9000 like a year ago. But i notice by some movies or most that the screen sometimes gets a flickering stroke at the downside of the screen. It happens fast like a second but still noticeable yesterday with the tecas chainsaw massacre super mario bros dog soldiers etc. Anybody does have the same problem? Or knows how to fix this. |
