Still works! Just tested a few discs.

You can verify the switch in the HDMI Diagnostics Menu (Settings -> General -> click Channels -> Highlight but don't click Channel Tuning -> Press 1111111 -> Press down to get to the second More button under DVI/HDMI Status, and in the top left it'll say DolbyLL before, and DolbyVision after changing the VSVDB version).

Yes, it's annoying. I believe I read Stacey Spears reported this to Panasonic but who knows when/if they'll fix it.

I'm going to update and see how it goes

Same. Updated to 1.82 over the network so it downloaded and applied the update. Then the player restarted and I toggled DV on in the settings and no extra options anywhere to be found yet. Reset the player to defaults still nothing.

Another person I told about this told me they see the options and they have full fat DV now again. I'm left scratching my head here

edit: It was hooked up to the LG C9 OLED and the EDID probably doesn't report high enough luminance. I'll connect it to the bravia XR90 and see if that enables the option.

My tv can go up to 2000 nits, how could it be not high enough?

2000 is plenty bright you should be asked to choose too. I connected the player to the brighter TV and also selected Super High Luminance LCD for the display type. Back into the HDMI menu and toggled DV off and then on again. Re-enabling it presented a menu for option 1 or 2. TV Led or Player led essentially.

I'm probably never going to be able watch any KL/Shout discs in DV unless I buy a different TV or player. Thank god Arrow is releasing SotL in a few months.
I had this nightmare of a problem really bad with my previous TV (LG B3 OLED) so I returned it and got a Sony Bravia A75L OLED. I've had it for a month now and have had zero flickering/blackout issues with SF/KL titles. There is hope atleast.

LG G2

Hard Target (Kino) and Halloween 4 (Shout) don't play smooth in DV there's tons of flickering scene to scene, but I sadly haven't rewatched all my discs since I got this player. I heard Spaceballs does it too which I also own

It's still not doing it. I don't know what else to do. For some reason it's not making the connection.

I saw this on reddit in those links:

Quote:
Somebody on the blu-ray forums [edit: lol] actually figured out a more extreme button-mashing version of the top menu trick and I got it to play the Second Sight Dawn of the Dead bonus disc.

insert disc

wait for error message wrong region message.

go to upper right corner of remote 4th button down on upper right it is marked status

push it twice get display up on upper screen

then go down to the play/pause/stop area of remote

push pause then play then stop in that sequence

then push top menu button once wait a second push it again. If it doesn't work try doing different combinations of the pause play stop sequence and try pushing the top menu 2/3/4 times. This usually works. On a few occasions when it didn't I have done the same sequence but after you push the status button twice go to the button directly under it and activate the button marked playback info then repeat steps 5,6,7 above.

Hmm, maybe try plugging it into a different HDMI slot to see see if that will trigger the proper EDID reading? I did Factory Reset the player after the update as well, not sure if that mattered at all though. I'm running out of helpful ideas

I got it to work now with first setting VSVDB to V2 on the LG, then turn Dolby Vision Off in the player, back out of the menu, then go in again and turn Dolby Vision On and then you get the options. Nice!

I can't even begin to know how I could change VSVDB on my tv or if it even has that option.

I tried the new remote trick on the Second Sight Dawn disc, won't do it, tried for about 10 mins every which way. If anyone has luck let me know what you did. I was not using the original 820 remote but the 9000 remote, not sure why this would matter

I think this shows how to enable the new options *if* your TV supports doing Dolby Vision processing (Mode 1) instead of the player (Mode 2):
Settings -> HDMI -> Dolby Vision -> Off
Settings -> HDMI -> Dolby Vision -> On -> Dolby Vision Setting (Mode 1, Mode 2)

Unless your TV doesn't support the feature, try disabling DV then reenabling it, like rickardl posted.

And you have not changed VSVDB to V1 with the "1113111" menu? If so, it should now be set to V2 before you disable/enable Dolby Vision in the player.

Wouldn't know where to start in changing that.
