So some time ago, not exactly sure how many movies or how long ago I noticed the subtitles looked fuzzy on my movies, and also even the menu was crappy looking along with very bad looking scenes in some films. Finally just a bit ago I pressed Info on my remote and noticed it said 480p/60 at the top, somehow my player reverted to 480p at some point lol! I have no idea how long it's been like that, but I'd bet I've watched 10+ 4k's and blus in 480p as I know it's been a minute since I noticed. How the hell can that even happen without me flipping it? I didn't update my firmware, and I'm using an 8k certified monoprice HDMI cable. I definitely don't think I changed it unless it can be changed on the fly via the remote and I somehow hit it? Also I've had this player for years and when fiddling with the remote I discovered the HDR optimizer for the first time ever and saw it was off so flipped it on, I'm assuming that's something good to leave on? Anyway wtf, I can't believe I've been watching stuff at 480p for who knows how long lol. Annoying because now I kinda wanna rewatch everything I've watched the last couple weeks at least.

Just now turned on my UB820 player to put in a blu-ray disc from my "Sopranos" box-set and there was a firmware update waiting for me. Hopefully this somehow solves all the problems I've been having with perfectly fine blu-ray discs that have been freezing up and glitching on me... guess we'll see.

It would be interesting to know if 1.82 fixes this...

So I don’t know if this is the right place to post this but it has to do with the 4K disc. Some of my 4K discs have this pixelation issue going on where it looks like the screen is glitching and then the audio will just mute. Most of my movies it doesn’t do this anymore as I replaced the discs that did so.
However with this movie, I have now replaced it 3 times and every disc the pixelation and issue shows up at the same time stamp. The first two replacements were from Amazon and the last was from Walmart. I have a Panasonic 4k player and had to replace that once because the first time the system just stopped working. I put one of the replacements in the ps5 and it worked fine without any issue. Anyone have any advice? I don’t know if it’s the player or the disc. I tried cleaning one of the discs but there was no scratch or smudge marks on it. |

Edit: Yes, it did! New opton in the menu! I got it to work with first setting VSVDB to V2 on the LG, then turn Dolby Vision Off in the player, back out of the menu, then go in again and turn Dolby Vision On and then you get the options. Nice!

2. Upgrade the firmware to 1.82 if the above did not fix it. It is supposed to enhance/fix "Playability of Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc™".... Last edited by rickardl; 06-19-2024 at 05:47 PM. |

New firmware?!?!?! Ohhhhhhhhh! Exciting. What does it do? If it fixes Kino and Shout DV flickering I might bite, if not I may not bother my player runs flawless, plus what if it disables the region free trick lmao

Just updated the firmware and the KL/Shout DV black screen/signal issue still persists. Extremely frustrating....
I'm probably never going to be able watch any KL/Shout discs in DV unless I buy a different TV or player. Thank god Arrow is releasing SotL in a few months. |
