That's a kind offer. The other one that comes to mind at the moment is Shout Factory's Cat People 4K. Around the 50 minute mark.

Their newer OLED TV's and LED TV's are supposedly pretty amazing. I love how these companies just decide hey f**k it lets sell it.

If they exit the 4K player market that leaves just Sony and Magnetar I believe. Ouch.

If you want a UB820 or UB9000 at a fair price it might be a good idea to grab one this year just in case.

Is there a way to get rid of the audio delay when pausing and unpausing. My 9000 does this when connected to either my Sony or LG?

If I set the audio output to PCM, it gets rid of it, but I'm looking for another way if possible

I have the ub450 now. Would it be sensible to switch my 820 with this, or just stash it away as my back up? I may be incorrect, but doesn't the 450 upscale without the oversharpening?

Only on this website could someone read an article that says “‘Company X’ is thinking of no longer producing TELEVISIONS”….and they then instantly go off the deep end and think that it also means a completely separate line of products. LMAO….

Played my copy earlier today with no issues. Have you tried washing the disc? It sounds a bit weird, but I have had a couple of discs that refused to play until they were washed with a mild dish soap (wiping with a microfibre cloth alone did not help).

While trying to play the UHD of Congo last night my UB9000 did the dynamic range conversion, playing SDR instead of HDR and also down converting to 1080P. I haven’t changed any settings, I did a reset and put everything back to where it was, that didn’t help. I’m running firmware 1.82, which I just installed on 1/25, I had only played one other UHD since then which worked correctly. I also tried The Talk Of The Town last night which previously worked correctly, same down conversion issue. TV is Sony A90J. Anyone have any ideas?

Put a UHD in today and now it is working normally. Quirky behavior.

My 9000 wouldn't play Twister in HDR on my Sony a80j. Works fine when connected to my LG. I have no clue what causes this.

TIL that the 820 and 9000 players have a DV mode 1 and 2 on supported TVs, and as far as I understand it, my TV does not support mode 1, so I don't even get the choice.

Are there any way to know which TV are supported? I'm specifically looking at the LG C4 down the line.

AFAIK, the menu is only shown if your TV supports TV-led DV via HDMI and peak luminance is above 1200 nits. Why would you need to know if the menu will be shown on a future TV?

I'm fairly sure the LG G models are in this spectrum, but no idea about C.

It's relevant for when I decide what to buy, or what do you mean?

EDIT: If I understand it correctly. I'm gonna need a G model for that kind of peak luminance.

The DV mode menu is a work around, allowing users that have TV's with the prerequisites I mentioned above, to switch between TV-led and Player-led DV, because for those TV's TV-led DV can cause display issues with some UHD blu-rays (black subtitles, black menu items,...).
Not having the menu displayed can mean one of two things:
- the TV does not support TV-led DV via HDMI, so only Player-led DV is used anyways
- the peak luminance is lower than 1200 nits, you use TV-led DV though

Therefore, having the DV mode menu should not factor in as a buying decision. You will have it, if you need the work-around.

Makes perfect sense - thanks.

The reason I'm looking into this is that some new 4K UHD discs seem to have issues with Player-led DV but not TV-led DV, and noone really seem to want to fix it on the manifacturer end.

This is of course not my sole reason for changing TV, but I wanted to have it in mind.

Guess I'll simply change some other component (eg. the player) instead for a cheaper solution.
