Speaking of Kindergarten, whoever designed those Spider-Man covers could learn a thing or two from the designer of Criterion's Kindergarten Cop April Fools' Day cover!

I sense 3 custom covers on the horizon, IF I order these! The special features are tempting...although why short the special features on #3??
Sony has such a good track record going with their releases, this one is a total head scratcher!

Any purchase of these, for me, is entirely dependent upon the use of new transfers/compression passes.

I heard the audio will be DTS HD-MA 5.1, which is a slight increase over the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 of the originals...other than that I would be very surprised if the video received any type of additional work. I guess I'll have to mosey on over to the Spidey thread and keep tabs there.

All this talk of 3-movie sets has got me wondering if we'll see a neat little MiB 3-movie set....Penton? I'd be interested in that seeing as I don't have any of the movies yet.

The only increase is in bitrate since DTS-MA usually requires more. The sound quality is *exactly* the same.

You say tomato, I say tomato...I'll stick with Master Audio. Plus MA is on the rise, True is on the decline in the battle of losslessness!

Peter's right- there would be no audible change from that spec adjustment.

I never disagreed with him. I just said more audio mixologists are using MA vs. True. As evidenced by this new Spiderman release(s).

DTS should ONLY be better if your equipment couldn't access the full lossless stream. Times have probably changed and most people by now have the lossless capability for either lossless format.

not only that but the concept is ridiculous. Somehow he beleives the issue of piracy is because with physical content it is easy to load the digital file and than strip the DRM around it so they can distribute it, but for some god forsaken reason it will be impossible (or harder) to do the same with a digital file.

And the whole IP address discussion is just retarded. DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, what does it mean, in laymen terms when I turn on my device my router gives it an IP address and the next time I turn the device on the IP address could be different because it gave that IP to one of my other devices (assuming we are discussing home network, but would be equaly true anywhere else). This is my internal IP address (you can get this by running cmd and typing ipconfig on a PC) then you have an external facing IP address (what people on the internet see if you go to their site) which is also dynamic and given by the ISP (you can find this one by going to http://www.whatismyip.com/ it will be completely different.) and so at most they will know your ISP and possibly location (but even that can be completely wrong, for example a work PC of multinational might not even be in the good country). To further complicate stuff, and show how ridiculous this notion is, the DL site does not need to know the IP my ISP gave me, I could go through a VPN, through a proxy server... and pretend I came from any other place (i.e. like when you see in movies and they trace and say they are going through China and UK and Nigeria and US and......). So all you would have is a completely useless IP address.

But like it is true for most (if not all) DL/streaming fanboys, the trick is to have no technical knowledge what so ever.

They also have no resale value which make purchasing them harder to justify.

If we move to a online/download model for movies are we looking at a simillar pricing structure?

Cheers,
Mick
I can offer one possibility though only my own thought given what I see in other type of businesses. The majority of the sales come from the channel (shops) and to cut the price for the online version, they may upset the channel. Perhaps they won't want to carry the games if they have to compete directly with the manufacture who can sell at a cheaper price.

But the shops will have to start thinking of a different model at some point if online download become the future for gaming.

Didn't think of it from that angle either and I'm sure the pirates will be able to cover their tracks pretty well. Heck, wasn't "Wolverine" pirated by an employee at the effects house? What are they going to do to stop that?

Hi Mick,
I hope you had a good St. Patrick’s Day. However, like you said, ‘not my baby’.

I’m not in marketing but it seems like the idea has merit. If some here are into makeup art as much as cover art on packaging, then here’s a behind the scenes MIB III fix while waiting on the motion picture….. http://www.heyuguys.co.uk/2012/03/26...of-the-aliens/

Received a PM in regards to whether or not 4K digital presentation can equal that of the exhibition of a 70mm print –

Yes, already answered that….last year in fact – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...mm#post5202522

In other words, according to a ‘film lover’ and film historian specializing in technological history who stated...“the results struck me as being equal”.
^ Old news, really.

New News – This month in Vegas expect Sony to show laser projection technology.
Technology marches on!
