I will definitely watch GwtDT this weekend. I also got Drive in from Netflix....so it will be a nice double feature!

I've got to get these movies in before the NHL playoffs start...although I don't hold out much hope for my Flyers! It's still the coolest game on Earth!
At least your guys made it into the playoffs, for you’ve fared far better this season than DenonCI with his sharks and me with my Ducks of Anaheim; although, things went well for us last Thursday? night. Sorry about that Denon.

Rick, good luck tomorrow against Pittsburgh (if I remember the upcoming schedule correctly).

No, but it makes the character much more interesting than if she had been putting around the city and countryside in some subcompact. It certainly is not of the caliber of Steve McQueen on two wheels in The Great Escape or carrying an alias in real life competitive outings https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ve#post5520920

I confess, I just included that bike bit in an attempt to entice you into watching the Blu-ray movie.

But hey, you’ve got to give Rooney a tip of the hat, for this is how she started out as a complete newbie….

on her 4-5 week learning curve to the final product as seen in the motion picture. I think she did rather well for a complete novice . She looks comfortable on the bike in the movie.

Please move on to another topic of discussion.

Here ya go – real-life animal rescues and waterproof cameras interest me even more than mythology…http://www.ocregister.com/articles/m...ron.html?pic=1

If you click on each successive pic, there is a nice little spiel of the rescue .

Quite remarkable how quickly this wild bird bonded with a human in the attempt to save its life. Made front page news in my neck of the woods. And for those cold business-minded souls out there, it will probably serve as a vehicle to sell a few more GoPro cameras in Orange County.

With regards to practical accuracy and a certain movie now announced for Blu-ray…https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=8453

I love how everything comes together correctly ….given enough time and a little *nudging* – a prior post from back in July of last year, the latter half of the post being pertinent to this particular title, i.e. Machine Gun Preacher ….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...un#post4925884

Seems that the technical specifications as listed on imdb now appear correct, as sometime in the interim since last July, they’ve included the phrase “Super 35 (source format) (some shots)” along with the respective film negative format –http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1586752/technical
imdb, when you get around to listing the Technical specifications for the futuristic Universal Pictures thriller that stars Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko entitled Oblivion -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1483013/

Please remember to list the Sony F65 under the category ‘Camera’.

Yes, you are correct in your NHL scheduling recollection! Looks like it will probably be Philly/Pit in the 1st round of the playoffs too! The wife already informed me I can choose either the couch(preferred choice), or the mulch(her massive garden outside), in which to sleep should Philly prevail over her Pens. So I've got that going for me....

Also, finally saw Drive tonight. Interesting movie....although I think they tried to hard to blend the 'art' & 'action'. Some great shots in this film: Like everyone involving Joan from Mad Men(aka Christina Hendriks)!
Looking forward to Dragon Tattoo tomorrow night!

Hey, Penton, wondering if you can delve into some disc history for me.

Saw Bogdanovich yesterday, he presented LAST PICTURE SHOW at Lightbox, the first time I'd seen the film (!) despite owning it on at least 2 other formats.

Now, it's included as part of the BBM package on Criterion, with our man Grover credited with the restoration of all the film's in that set, and Bouzereau doing most of the new interviews.

Some sites claimed this was a Sony project that they just dumped onto Criterion who then rebranded it, other give credit to the higher bitrate encode of EASY RIDER to show that Criterion did the magic after the source material was provided to the Studio. Do you know the history of this release, to what extent such a project would be a collaboration between Sony Home Ent and Criterion, etc.?

Also, ever seen this?

Skip to 2:30s, I did a long form interview with the guy actually jumping off the cliff, the one screen left. Know who that is? He's credited (well, at least on IMDB if not in the actual movies) in a few of your fav films over a 50 year career.

Well, at least the Shark's are playing better now and "should" make the big dance. If they survive the first round I'll be completely shocked. Their defense has fallen off a cliff this year. I've got my fingers crossed that they've decided to play their best hockey in April/May

Haha! Just like my Flyers! I'm heading out now to watch the game, with a Pittsburgh buddy of mine. I think he said something about doing a shot for each goal scored!

Ah, you’re a tough movie critic Rick. But alas, different strokes for different folks, eh? Perhaps you would prefer an attractive brunette driving through the city lights at night and into the daytime picturesque countryside with the top down….all captured with an 8K sensor recorded out in true 4K and color graded to perfection?

For that , see the footage (film short) at NAB 2012 (Booth # C11001….http://expo.nabshow.com/mynabshow201...8&Booth=C11001 ) or, if not attending, eventually coming to a VideON HD video clip near you.

Don't get me wrong, the movie was brilliant I just thought there were a few inconsistancies. Didn't really detract from the viewing experince!
I appreciate the link!
Flyers = Huge!

Edit: FYI, I couldn't reply directly to your post! Kept getting an error message?

Hi Penton,

Probably not your baby - but why are playstation 3 and ps vita games on the playstation store the same price as their physical counterparts that are sold in the shops? Would it not make sense that they would be at least a bit cheaper given that there is no physical media/packaging involved? They also have no resale value which make purchasing them harder to justify.

If we move to a online/download model for movies are we looking at a simillar pricing structure?

Cheers,
Mick

Penton-Man:

Before I forget, please give my congratulations next month to whomever designed the cover art for the Spider-Man re-releases.

Graduating from Kindergarten is a BIG accomplishment!
