Default The Conjuring (2013)

The new film from James Wan of Saw and Insidious comes out this July.

The trailer just looks eh. Kinda sick of the based on a true story or whatever else. Plus I see the loud noises and jump scares are in full effect for this.

Everyone tired of these type of movies, or can you not get enough?

No Patrick Wilson in the trailer? He's such a hottie. I think he and James Wan got something going on. Three films together.

Anyway, interesting trailer. It's only like 3 scenes together, which I love.

This will have no problem making back its $13 million budget during its opening weekend.

This movie cost $13 million dollars to make? The first SAW movie along with Insidious only cost less then $3 million for the both of them.

$13M is still pretty low for a theatrical movie.

Still when you have a history of small budget movies, it's kinda odd seeing how much this cost to make. I wonder what Insidious 2's budget is.

Maybe this one took longer to make or maybe half of it went to Lili Taylor.

Wouldn't it be awesome if those three scenes in the trailer were shot specifically for the trailer.

I don't like this teaser. It's kind of lackluster. Hope to get a better idea from the trailer.

I'm tired of slasher movies, but this I just can't get enough.

I like this kind of trailer, when they show two or three scenes and gives you real feel of the movie, instead of splashy quick cuts commercials.

PS: James Wan is from my country.

If you mean "Old-fogey" horror movies where the protagonists are yuppie parents with cute 7-10 yo. kids to protect, yeah, I'm getting pretty darn tired of them.
This is our, what, fourth "Daddy-horror" horror movie in the last year, and that's not counting the last Paranormal Activity sequel.

Has it finally happened? ARE there no young horror fans under the age of thirty anymore?--And the only people left who still get excited are the thirty-something remains of the teens who used to go see 80's horror movies in theaters, now driving their kids to soccer practice in the station wagons, and hoping they don't meet strangers? (Which is why all the real teens keep wanting to remake Prom Night and Elm Street, just to see them in theaters again?)
I thought we'd finally killed off "Mommy-horror", for A-list actresses to live out fantasies of being maternal avengers protecting their children from demons, when "The Invasion" flopped; is it now the daddies' turn, with "Sinister" and "The Possession"?

I want to see some decent scares, but I DON"T CARE about finding real estate deals in the suburbs close to the schools!
When I was in high school, why on earth would I go see movies about things that would scare my parents?

Mommy and daddy horror? Trust me, I'm sure it's not Mommies and Daddies seeing those films in theaters. That depends on their age. But I'm sure the people seeing Insidious, Sinister and The Paranormal Activity series are teens.

While you're at it, i guess Poltergeist is a Mommy and Daddy horror film.

I don't really care for the films much, but that seems like it's the era were in. It always cycles back really over the years. Now it's these type of films, and in a few years it'll be another kind of horror movies people are seeing.

Well, you're right, back in the 90's, it was young rich yuppie couples just having their first house and baby, worrying about evil babysitters, apartment roommates and real-estate tenants From Hell invading their upper-middle-class worlds and spoiling their upwardly-mobile job promotions...
Guess those young upper-middle-class yuppies became middle-age upper-middle-class yuppies, and the new trophy-babies became cute dad-and-daughter fifth-graders haunted by ghosts.

Does this mean that by the '20's, we'll have "Night of the Depends" and "Last Independent-Living Care on the Left", while some young filmmaker goes out and does a flashy "reboot" of Cabin in the Woods out of frustrated nostalgia?

At the start of this trailer I thought it was going to be better than the teaser, which was great. But eventually it gets less... subtle. There's so much CGI. I do think it's a fantastic trailer to sell it to audiences. And I definitely want to see it. The atmosphere seems great. I'd just prefer a bit less CGI.

But yeah, this will definitely be a hit. Should see a strong opening in the upper teens and could be pretty leggy.

MPAA have rated it R for being too scary apparently.

What a bunch of dumbasses the MPAA are. It being too scary is not a real reason to rate a movie.

LOL. Insidious was pretty scary for being PG-13, yet it was still PG-13 . The Ring as well.

Cause like i said the MPAA is ran by idiots. If you're gonna give a movie a R rating, then say why. Just don't be like it's too scary. I hope they will not put that on the poster. " Rated R - For being too Scary"
