Crank 2 playback issues

Using a PS4 and it won't even recognize Crank 2. Kinda pissed. Wanted to hear that Patton soundtrack.

Hi. I’m new to the boards and am resurrecting this thread. I have a Panasonic DMP-BDT220 with an Ethernet connection. I tried playing with an empty 8 GB USB drive in the front, but it didn’t work. Any thoughts?

This was an early lionsgate title and so there are a number of things to try. First though, does the disc load at all? A number of Lionsgate's 2006-2008 (and even some 2008-2010) titles are prone to disc rot. Discs manufactured in one plant have an inevitable flaw that will eventually cause the disc to stop working. If the title in question loads at all, then you are probably safe.

For an otherwise functional disc that won't load, the issue is sometimes the BD-Live aspect. Try turning off the internet connection on the player and see if that will help. Usually the problem is that the disc won't load properly due to some network connection issue. Taking the player offline seems to help that.

Other ideas to try include clearing your players cache and of course making sure the firmware is up to date.

I got rid of ALL my early Lionsgate titles--- as well as a few early Criterions...

it sucks, but it happens with early releases of a new format.

The disc does load. I did my research, and it seems like so many other people, the picture just plays in a small box. What I did notice is that my player’s internet connection doesn’t turn on until after the disc starts looking for one.

I finally gave up and bought this...


I don't really care for the other films so I put the disc with Crank 2 on it in my Crank 1&2 blu ray case and gave the other disc away. The only thing that sucks is I lost all the extras. I can't believe there was never a recall for this....

Just kidding but this thread being bumped reminded me I haven't seen these two in a long while and loved the second one quite a bit. Will try to revisit these soon.

So the issue isn't with the disc, but rather the video settings? I can't say I've ever heard about that or seen problem. I last watched my copy of Crank and Crank 2 about 3-4 years ago if I recall correctly and so I'll need to revisit my discs, but out of the hundreds of Lionsgate discs I own I can't say I've ever had one shrink the image down into a picture in picture kind of box. That sounds like a software issue with the player itself.

Yes, it is on a disc with 2 other movies. So no extras but as least it plays...

I bought a DVD off eBay because I think it has all the extras minus the PIP stuff (which unfortunately is what I was looking most forward to.)
