I finally got conformation from Amazon today that that Chungking Express stock will never be available. They cancelled my order.

I knew this was the case, but now it's confirmed. haha

I just watched Muriel's Wedding for the first time, which I know some people wanted when Muriel, or the Time of Return was announced. I loved the film, and I would happily purchase it if it ever made it to the collection. Heck, I'd get it if it made it to BD in the US.

Brilliant film! I always avoided cause I thought it was some rom com lol but it was a pretty sad and powerful film and great performances - and the humour was well balanced and not overpowering which was a relief.

Maybe they're in no man's land. They may have already gathered/created supplements for stand alone releases, but don't have the HD masters for the blu-ray releases. Could do an eclipse, but thwn would have to ax all the supplements?

I don't have Hulu. Are the Naruse films on there HD?

I must admit I was a tiny bit disappointed it wasn't a boxset.

... or at least a Cat People / Curse of the Cat People double feature. As much as I love the first film, the sequel is sublime. Of course, now I'll be hoping and praying for Criterion to release I Walked With a Zombie, which is not only my favorite Val Lewton film, but one of my Top 100 films of all-time.

I must admit that I like the remake better, but I guess this is because I saw it first in my childhood or teens and made an impression on me. (I just wish there was a decent transfer of it too),
This older film has some great scenes too, but I didn't find it overall great.

I think the artist proaably would have alluded to it being part of a set .The cover also looks like it's for a standalone release.

Don't know if they can be classified as HD, but they were certainly in better condition than the BFI and Eureka prints. There was a lot of detail, and they certainly looked HD.

Is this the movie that the 80s Cat People was made from because I really didnt care for that version. I dont hate it but I saw it once and that was more than enough.

Either way will def be checking the original out as soon as its available.

I've never seen the 80s version, so I don't know how close it is, but yes, it is considered a remake of the 42 version.
