Kino has the rights to Los Olvidados (see under "Film Details" here). I'd love it, too...

A 2018 Wish List. What a capital idea.

Bob le Flambuer (this feels greedy after getting Le Samourai and Elevator to the Gallows)

New
The Tenant
Charley Varrick (hope springs eternal)
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (public domain but apparently Paramount has a pretty good print they've been sitting on)
The Big Clock
The War of the Worlds (1953)

The Bad and the Beautiful
Arsenic and Old Lace
The Thin Man/After the Thin Man

Criterions
Breakfast Club // Election
Sid & Nancy // Repo Man

La Samourai // (can anyone recommend a pairing for this movie?)

Yojimbo/Sanjuro Box Set
The Hidden Fortress // Throne of Blood
Kagemusha 1980 // Ran (not criterion)

The Sword of Doom // Lady Snowblood
The Samurai Trilogy $70

Red River // One Eyed Jack

Asphalt Jungle // Night and the City (any other mandatory noirs?)

His Girl Friday // Only Angel's Have Wings
It Happened One Night// The Philadelphia Story

The Freshman // Safety Last // Speedy (best two out of these?)

Night of the Living Dead // Vampyr // The Lure

Hitchcock Criterion
Foreign Correspondent // Charade (not Hitchcock)
Rebeca // Lady Vanishes
the Man Who Know to Much 1934 // Lodger

====================

New Release Wishlist:
Arsenic and Old Lace
Blue Dahlia
Pre-code 1930's
Over the Edge
Le Samourai with Purple Noon is essencial, but a less obvious pair with Pale Flower or Branded to Kill would also be great.

Some more first-rate films noir: Sweet Smell of Success, In a Lonely Place , Mildred Pierce , They Live by Night

Among Harold Lloyd films, I prefer Safety Last! and Speedy. If there were Girl Shy (to be released someday, I presume?), I would pick that and Speedy. But if you're gonna pick The Freshman, I would highly recommend you to watch it with Buster Keaton's The College.

And some more alternatives:

His Girl Friday with Women on the Verge of a Nervvous Breakdown or The Palm Beach Story (crazy screwball comedies)

Rebecca with Don't Look Now (same original author)

Throne of Blood with Macbeth (Roman Polanski)

All I want is Roman Holiday.

It's inexcusable that this film still doesn't have a blu-ray release anywhere. I can't live like this anymore.

2018 marks the film's 65th Anniversary Edition.

Hopefully that's enough for it to be released.

My 2018 wish list is just for upgrades, although, if Criterion were to release a certain Howard Hawks screwball comedy, I would not complain one tiny bit.
022 Summertime
103 The Lady Eve
114 My Man Godfrey
170 Trouble in Paradise
224 Pickup on South Street
273 Thieves Highway
380 The Naked City
383 Brute Force
435 The Furies
470 Wise Blood
It's not that I don't want Criterion to release new titles, it's just that I think these are long overdue.

It will be interesting to revisit this list a year from now and see how many of my wishes have come true.

Watching Criterion's excellent release of FESTIVAL, I'd love to see them acquire THE WEAVERS: WASN'T THAT A TIME. The latter's only DVD release was a briefly available PBS pledge-drive reward disc that went OOP fairly quickly.

Breaking Away is currently licensed to Twilight time, so at least 2019

My 2018 Criterion Wishlist:
-Hedwig and the Angry Inch (I just feel that Criterion may, one day, pick this up if Warner/New Line is just letting it sit in the dust)
-Pink Flamingos, Polyester, Female Trouble (I really liked what they did with 'Multiple Maniacs' and feel the saving grace for these films would be if Criterion did a full restoration and maybe a collection)
-Annie Hall (I heard that they restored this in 4K, and I can't remember where the source was but the heads of Arrow and Shout! said they didn't have the rights but a release of it was possibly coming so this truly makes me believe Criterion might be doing a release)
-Eyes Wide Shut, Lolita, and Spartacus. (I feel these are the last Kubrick's we could see, I really would doubt Warner would give up the distribution rights for the other films, plus 'Spartacus' has been in the collection before.)
-Do the Right Thing, (They re-released the DVD not to long ago with the updated cover, and I have a feeling it might end up on blu-ray one day)
-Heathers, (But I feel Arrow would pick this up as they have released a lot of the New World Pictures films, and it has that new show coming out.)
-Ferris Bueller, 16 Candles, Some Kind of Wonderful, Pretty in Pink. With 'Breakfast Club' coming out and 'Ferris' being hinted at, I feel Hughes films really might end up coming out...or at the least I hope they do.
-Wallace and Gromit: The Complete Adventures (I know, I know...but I think this would be a cool choice for Criterion, as the other US release is OOP and has disc rot problems, probably would never happen but a release of the four films in a collection newly remastered from Criterion would be awesome, plus they need more animation.
-Dancer in the Dark (I just like this film, it's heartbreaking and I feel it's very much up Criterion's alley)
-Waitress (I'm still shocked no one has this out on blu-ray, it's alright...but I know there's an HD master and I'm tired of my old DVD)
-Mommie Dearest (Someone just release this film, I know Paramount has done some titles with Criterion in the past, but I just want a remaster of this)
-Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, Pi (Basically add Darren, his films are in such a style that I feel fits aspects of the Collection, and with 'mother!' I feel he could be another Wes Anderson with his films all in the collection.
-Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and MORE FINCHER! (I want 'Benjamin Button' in a full Criterion case, a nice authentic release with the proper size so it matches my others, and MORE FINCHER!
Sorry this was long, I just have a list.

Give us more Hitchcock, Sofia Coppola, and Kubrick in 2018 and I will be a happy man. Oh, and let’s get Andrea Arnold’s Red Road a release to put me over the top with happiness.

My 2018 wishlist is pretty short because I just can't seem to remember the names of most of the movies I loved watching when I was younger. But the two that stuck with me the most that I'd love to see again would be:

Set Me Free (Léa Pool)
The Best of Youth (Marco Tullio Giordana)
