Lynch owns it outright under his Absurda banner. The DVD was distributed by Rhino here in the US. Studiocanal also has a stake in the film which is why they published it elsewhere across the world. In this neck of the woods Criterion will probably be putting it out since Lynch seems to be in a nice partnership with them currently.

Even though the Blu-ray is technically an upscale, it’s still an improvement and looks quite good considering the elements. And of course the sound is good on BD also. Some of the extras are repeated on The Elephant Man, but some good unique extras on the StudioCanal like the Guardian NFT interview with Mark Kermode.

I was thinking about Lynch earlier, decided to look on eBay to see how much the Absurda DVD is going for, and found a copy for £3.40. Some people really don’t know what they have! The only thing that bugs me is seeing “disk” on there, when I usually see it written as “disc”. And there’s three different cover arts that I’ve come across?

I love having bonus films on discs! Lots of other labels outside Criterion do this too - The Man from Hong Kong (Umbrella Entertainment) features five Trenchard-Smith films in SD as a bonus, some even with commentaries! I Drink Your Blood (Grindhouse) also comes with I Eat Your Skin and Blue Sextet.

When you include feature length making ofs and profiles of actors/directors/writers, it’s a very large number.

I have the Hong Kong blu of Inland that’s Region Free and it’s pretty good. I definitely want a US release, though. The HK disc lacks the deleted scenes and only has 2.0 audio.

36 Cinema will be showing Branded to Kill and Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai on a livestream.
