His father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate Dory Van Grant was in a couple of corkers.

They could have chosen a better photo of Cary, but I think the photomontage mixed with illustration makes it feel like it could be of the time on a poster/magazine cover. The bottle of arsenic is a cute touch. Yes it looks different from the other Cary Grant releases from the period.

I’ve seen people complain about the lack of extras but not sure what they could add, maybe a critic/film historian interview, they’ve already featured a documentary about Capra before. Frank Capra Jr. gave some good commentaries on the Sony releases but he died in 2007 and I doubt any cast and crew are still around.

I've seen Cobra's & Tory Grant's Toadstool & Ancient Webbing dozens of times on TCM and thought it was finely acted. well directed and very funny. Now I find out it sucks. There goes my order of this "supposedly" classic film. Man I hate it when I'm wrong!

To me Criterion was spot on course until like 6 or 7 years ago. I say this but ironically in today’s announcement there’s 4 films I intend to get.
As I suspected, I'm not really sure what you're calling a "classic". Considering all that's been released since then, by Criterion or anyone else, I think we've reached a certain saturation level where there are less and less "classics" left that are attainable and sustainable enough to upgrade to BD or even UHD. Also, times change. I love discovering films that become classics to me as well. I can't believe I hadn't seen Mississippi Masala, for example, but I'm totally in love with it now.

Just having Cary Grant in a movie does not guarantee success, but you do you.
Well that's a very unkind attitude to wish upon a bunch of strangers who come together here over a love of films. Ask your doctor if forums are right for you.

Let's see what's in the newspaper today. TIL Corey starred in "School Of Hard Knockers." The last name "Masterson" wasn't mentioned, but he is wearing the same outfit and it makes sense because those were the dark days of the Corey. *shiver*

Some folks over at criterionforum.org seem to think a Scorsese at Warner Bros. set from Criterion may be in the works and that that's why the UHD of Goodfellas is OOP. We'll see what that speculation amounts to...

I'm of that belief too, especially given the hold-up with After Hours and the discontinuation of Mean Streets.

Would've never suspected Goodfellas however, and wouldn't it have made sense to withhold Raging Bull for it?

"The Aviator" in 4K would be awesome.

Criterion almost certainly has Mean Streets, and After Hours, so I could see it happening. I wasn't even aware that Goodfellas 4K was OOP in the US (though still readily available internationally), but Warner is strange with their titles going OOP without any new represses. There's a few classics like King Kong that have been like that too, unless that means Criterion got that one back as well

True, I was thinking more along the lines of a "Scorsese set" and not a "Scorsese at WB" set.

I honestly hope Goodfellas doesn't go to Criterion, because then I'll just feel like I have to double dip and spend more money. You generally think buying a UHD means "okay, I never have to buy that ever again for all eternity". Honestly though, would WB give Goodfellas to Criterion only for it to be imprisoned in a boxset? That seems odd to me.
