They may have just thought to express their opinion where they felt it relevant. Sometimes different people stick to particular areas of the forums for whatever reason, it's not like everyone visits all sections. There's no innate harm done if a post appears in 2 separate locations that may be frequented by different interest groups.

Confession: I have done it myself when for example, Mondo Macabro released their Bollywood Horror set, I talked about the films in both the India side of the forums as well as the MM thread, and it was appreciated by different sets of people in each side.

And this is hardly some gargantuan bandwidth sucking post that anyone should feel upset about having come across twice. Methinks thou makest a mountain of a molehill.

Posting the same words in 2 different places on the site in my view is not spamming. I see it as "spreading my seed". Lol.

Actually, I really do this to gauge the reaction from people with the rating/voting system in the comments section. Sometimes when I post something highly critical or negative, it gets upvotes, and sometimes when I post something exalting or positive, it gets a lot of downvotes, and vice versa. It's always interesting to see what is cool or not cool in the eyes of other members here.

July 3, 2023 - The Eventim Apollo Hammersmith (formerly the Odeon) will host the global premiere of the newly restored version of 'Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture' with the film also being shown in 1000+ cinemas worldwide during the month of July.

The Eventim Apollo Hammersmith will host a red-carpet premiere, including an exclusive on-stage conversation with Bowie collaborators and contemporary musicians that will precede the film screening. They will address the original show's legacy and Ziggy's pan-generational resonance.

It is one of the most iconic performances in the history of modern music: the moment where David Bowie retired his Ziggy Stardust alter ego in front of an audience of 5000 fans at London's Hammersmith Odeon.

While Bowie's decision to retire his beloved extra-terrestrial rockstar persona and to dissolve The Spiders From Mars was a shock to fans (and to the band as well!), it was a pivotal moment in securing his future. Moving past Ziggy was a crucial early step on Bowie's journey to becoming the restless, inquisitive and shape-shifting artist that would have unparalleled influence on music, film, fashion and beyond. In addition to providing the template for '70s glam rock, the impact of Ziggy Stardust's brief existence remains widespread across popular culture, having inspired artistic and ideological freedoms that are still being enjoyed by musicians and the wider creative community today.

The band's performance on July 3, 1973, was captured on film by award-winning director DA Pennebaker (famed for Dylan's classic '67 doc, Don't Look Back) and released under the title of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture.

A new version of the film is now ready to be screened to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of Bowie's bravest and most celebrated moments.

The new version of the film features:

• The full uncut performance featuring seldom seen scenes with the legendary guitar player Jeff Beck not included on previous DVD and soundtrack releases, including his high-octane performance on Bowie's anthemic 1972 hit, The Jean Genie
• A fully restored, 4K visual mix overseen by DA Pennebaker's son, Frazer, and Chris Hegedus
• A 5.1 mix undertaken by producer Tony Visconti
• An extended running time of one hour and 42 minutes

A film that focuses on the adoration of Bowie fans and which captures David onstage and in his dressing room prior to the show, this anniversary edition of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture is the closest audiences will come to being there on that unforgettable night 50 years ago.

Looking forward to this, especially as I missed the reissue a decade and a half back - but considering Pennebaker is no longer around (though of course he revisited his rushes before like with the Monterey Pop follow ups), I hope they’re respectful with the editing with the additional footage, as there have been some odd legacy releases like grafting on a 20 minute documentary and multi-angle feature to the Jimi Hendrix film. Or with other documentarians and direct cinema filmmakers, That Summer (preceding Grey Gardens), Pollack’s Amazing Grace, When We Were Kings/Soul Power, again with Pennebaker with Revival69. Of course sometimes the original filmmakers have input like with Rolling Thunder Revue and The Beales of Grey Gardens and Festival Express had the executive producer involved. Of course it’s great to see the footage released. Though I’m confident Frazer and Hegedus will be very respectful to Pennebaker’s legacy.

I don't think they ever completely stopped. I believe the rule is, releases that haven't gotten a DVD release before, or if that DVD release is OOP, typically will have a DVD option. This seems to apply mainly to solo releases, rather than box sets.

So, I decided to do a comparison between the BD for Dreams, and the images posted on Criterion's page. I wan't expecting much of a difference, but I was surprised to find a pretty significant one in this particular scene. I don't know if the images on the site will be representative of the 4K release, but it looks like a big improvement in colors and detail over the BD, which seems to lean more green.

Nice. I love Deakins' work so much. I wonder if they stopped by for something Criterion related? Criterion mentions Deakins' book in their tweet, but that's not really something new. If it's something both were involved with, perhaps there will be a release of Secret Garden (1993) later this year? It checks a lot of boxes. It has its 30th anniversary this year, it's from Warner, so they can license it, It's a beautifully shot film, and it's yet to get a BD release (which is quite odd). If it's just something Roger has done, then there are so many possibilities. Perhaps The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which Deakins has been vocal about Criterion releasing.

They were at Strand bookstore a couple days ago for the book. So it looks like they’re back on tour with it.

Also The Man Who Wasn’t There was mentioned as coming on his podcast so they might finally have started working on it.

Ah okay. I thought that might have been the case, but was too lazy too check. Perhaps because of covid they didn't do that when it was published in 2021. Good point about The Man Who Wasn't There, I forgot about that one.
