I know Sony had the others but it's possible they want to release the remainder themselves.

Tarsem brought THE FALL to Criterion and they rejected it. Ditto for Friedkin/SORCERER.

I'll bet Sorcerer comes out from either Arrow or Criterion now that Billy's not around to play in his sandbox. They can restore the theatrical cut without acquiescing to his constant, endless revisionism.

And I'll put it out there again, if someone redoes The Exorcist properly, it's an automatic Day One. I can't say that enough.

I'm betting Sorcerer comes out from Arrow Video since they recently did Cruising, and The French Connection if we get it will probably come out from Criterion.

What about The Princess and The Warrior? It is almost as great as Run Lola Run. It is one of my favorites and I continue to be baffled as to why it has no Blu-ray release. I would love this one on 4K UHD soon.

Personally, I am hoping for the following soon:
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 4K (one of my all time favorites)
The Adventures of Antoine Doinel 4K UHD set (all are now on 4K in France, I will keep asking about it until it happens)
More Kurosawa 4K upgrades (BFI has announced some as well)
Hitchcock 4K Collection would be great, too (as another poster suggested)
Shoot the Piano Player 4K (more Truffaut in general, please)
A Woman is A Woman 4K (more Godard in general, please)
Flow 4K

Basically anything from the French New Wave in 4K or classic Japanese cinema is going to make me extremely happy.
Been wanting A WOMAN IS A WOMAN for a while as well and with the recent 4K restoration, I think we'll finally see that. Chances are I will get the StudioCanal UK release though, assuming it has a stronger encode.

UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG 4K, I fully expect to be announced for May (or sometime this year).

Just received my first ever disc from Criterion (No Country For Old Men), and the physical product alone makes me want to buy more releases. Nice sturdy case, and heavy. Visually, it's very aesthetically pleasing as well. Great box art and the font/design of the entire thing is subtle, but clean. Love it.

For me, Criterion has been ultra reliable in many ways. Great movies with great releases, and great extras. They get quirky sometimes with packaging (which you might disagree with sometimes), but I generally love what they make available.

That's not to say Criterion hasn't whiffed it in those ways before, such as THE FALL (ended up with MUBI) and SORCERER (ended up with WBHE).
Way back when Sony licensed the films the guy running Sony Pictures Classics said that Criterion would be releasing them, but that was years ago.

I imagine that one hold up is new masters, which would have to happen either by Sony or Almodóvar's company.

This is my first time trying to catch the February 1 day sale. It's still coming, right?

I can't imagine that it wouldn't be. We just don't know which upcoming Tuesday it will be yet.

So, when should we expect the announcements? Are we betting on today or tuesday?

Wait, so are the Feb, one day sales, always on a Tuesday? Or the announcement on Tuesday? This definitely helps a lot thanks! I'll make sure to tune in on Tuesdays.

They're generally on a Tuesday (I'm sure someone can share the recent dates) to coincide with new releases. Usually it's late February, but in 2022 and 2023 it slipped into March. My guess is Feb 25, Mar 11, or Mar 4 (in that order).

Criterion Channel subscribers usually get a discount code prior to the sale and they'll also usually announce the sale on social media the day before. Watch this thread and you should have enough warning!

Samurai Rebellion, The Bad Sleep Well, Under The Blossoming Cherry Trees, and the Hanzo the Razor trilogy would be on top of my list.
Samurai Rebellion is still my most wanted upgrade, Hanzo would be fantastic, and Red Beard would seal the deal.

Only 1 guess for the Toho release:
Stray Dog UHD

I think High and Low is coming too, but that feels like a July release.

Either today or Monday for announcements, I think, as the 15th is tomorrow.

I wonder if their 30% off sale ending on the 17th is a sort of sign that their announcements won't be till the 18th. Otherwise their new annoucmements will also be part of the sale. Guess we'll know in a few hours or less.
