Noice! I really liked Misericorde at the cinema, an excellent Hitchcock inspired black comedy from the director of the audacious Stranger by the Lake. I would be up for a disc release.

My high school had a film class too. I remember watching Amadeus, Dracula (1931), and This is Spinal Tap; but we watched a bunch of other movies as well, I just don't remember what they were. We watched them on a big screen in the school auditorium.

Does anyone know if you're allowed to stack codes during the flash sales?

Hardware makes a difference. There are many solid discs that looked awful on my old setup, that look truly amazing on my current setup.

Conversely, there's plenty of tapes and discs that I thought looked great on my old setups I've had through the years, and seeing them again they look awful.

Your professor is likely one of the guys saying "there's no difference between lossy and lossless" in one of the other threads right now.

All I'm going to say is that for June, maybe Criterion will pull a surprise and release NO BD to 4K upgrades and just give us all new HD titles? Wishful thinking? Probably, but a man can hope.

I know July is going to be stacked, so the question is what will June hold? A stacked month to make the July sale even better, or a light month because they know July is going to be a major month?

Considering the Oscars is on March 2, either 12 or 15 days before the slate is announced, that might determine what the slate holds. So far I'm thinking something Japanese, and I'm thinking Brazil for some reason, even though Brazil would obviously be a July or November release.

From the Oscars, we may get Emilia Perez, and we'll definitely get Flow at some point, either from Criterion proper or Janus Contemporaries.

We may also get Killers Of The Flower Moon and Megalopolis too, neither of which have a disc in the US.

You'll get Throne of Blood 4K and like it.

That said, I would like some of there back catalog released in addition to much needed 4K upgrades.

Don't you mean High and Low 4K? That one is probably slated next haha.

Seriously though I'm really hoping we get some new to HD stuff from the inner pipes of Criterions ventilation system. Sure there are more important things to life than movies, but man it's be nice if they started throwing us some more bones.

I really wish they were more like Radiance since they only released a limited amount of titles a month. Focus on the stuff that have NO releases and let companies like Kino who release 20-30 a title a month have more of the studio produced stuff.

If you're only going to release 6 films a month, don't give us the stuff someone else can release.

I initially claimed that I saw no real difference between DVD and Blu-ray resolution. I finally figured out that my TV set at that time was only 721p, not 1080p. When I upgraded to a better TV, I saw the difference.

I really wish Criterion would upgrade The Testament of Dr Mabuse already. Kind of amazed it hasn’t been after all these years.

There was a Eureka BD (region B locked) in 2012, which was solid for the time, but is starting to show its age. If the elements permit, a new scan/resto can yield significantly greater results.

I’ve debated this before (and have many Eureka discs), but I never went for the replacement because the Criterion supplements are just so clutch. So I wouldn’t ditch that DVD, and I’d have two copies. So I always kept holding out the CC upgrade. Which, again, am very surprised hadn’t happened a decade ago.

If you're region free, MoC has great discs of Dr. Mabuse The Gambler, The Testament Of Dr. Mabuse, The Thousand Eyes Of Dr. Mabuse, and the Mabuse Lives! Dr. Mabuse At CCC box set. They're all region-locked, but they're all great.

New transfers are in order, but these are still great discs in the meantime.

I have the Kino for the first. I had Thousand Eyes but replaced it with the big box set coming out next month!

I've been wanting upgrades of The Fountain, The Aviator, and Good Night, and Good Luck for ages. I hate what WB did with those BDs.
