All ten of Juzo Itami's films have 4K restorations, but I imagine that a $500 set of UHDs of his films would be a much harder sell.

I'd like to see a Blu or 4K upgrade of the Carlos Saura Flamenco Trilogy plus his other dance films, Iberia, Fados, Tango, Flamenco, and Flamenco Flamenco.

I think BFI put some of these titles out on Blu, but I don't know how good they look?

RE: Box sets -- I'm flabbergasted that we haven't gotten an Ozu box set yet. Also, given the "recent" tourings, I'm surprised we haven't gotten Jean Eustache (we only got TMatW), Kinuyo Tanaka, Márta Mészáros (we only got Adoption), or Jacques Rozier.

Did Criterion/Janus ever say why they didn't include Guelwaar in their Sembène set?

As much as I clamor for any and all Ruiz (my favorite director) to be released, tbh I think atp Criterion isn't the best home and quite unlikely to bother. Interest in Ruiz is arguably even more niche than it was, and Criterion has gone in a more, shall we say, financially motivated direction than ever before. Ruiz is not gonna move units; his films are too subtle, academic, and abstruse

Yes, please. Criterion: upgrade the Flamenco trilogy. Put out a box set with several Carlos Saura films.

I especially request Tango and Goya in Bordeaux. Some of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen.

Has anyone heard any discussion of an upgrade of the Monsters and Madmen DVD set?

I’m getting ready to buy this and was just wondering if I should hold off for a possible BD.

I and many others have been waiting for 10 years for this and other box sets like the 60’s swordplay box. I think you should just do it because it’s probably not coming out on blu. But, if you been waiting for a while, wait until a 50% off sale.

Unfortunately, the transfers on this set are full frame when they should be at least 1:66 and may even involve compromising image alignment for full screen. A rare misstep from Criterion on aspect ratio, but I assume given the movies involved, their heart wasn't into the project as much as it is on higher profile titles.

Also, curious why Election is included but not Election 2.
So these went up a little early last night and I checked and none open with the Criterion/Janus logos. So any To they are working on are not these. (Election was the same ugly SD transfer that opens with the Tartan logo that the Channel streamed a couple years back.)

Yes, there should be a 50% off sale during July at Barnes and Noble.

It's almost criminal that this set hasn't been upgraded.

I revisited The Atomic Submarine not too long ago and it was just as cheesy and wonderful as I remembered. I really have to admire the one officer’s dedication to duty by leaving gorgeous Joi Lansing behind.

I keep hoping for Equinox and Fiend Without a Face getting upgrades.

So besides that Wes Anderson set which I am not buying anything above the price of those Blaxploitation, or the Golden Princess sets coming from Shout! Factory I just won't buy here's what other titles are possibly coming in September from Criterion. At least my predictions

Captain Blood new to Blu-Ray and 4K and new to the Criterion Collection
Brother From Another Planet new to the Criterion Collection
Flow
Red Beard, or the Bad Sleep Well
High and Low 4K
Catch-22, or Heartburn
Rosewood

ATOMIC SUBMARINE was a childhood favorite of mine. As a Seattleite, I loved the mentions of such local entities as Bremerton and the Puget Sound. I'd love to have it on Blu-ray.

One of those dubious closet "celebrities," I forget who, recently grabbed EQUINOX, which I thought was great! It's such a cool little experimental flick that should be upgraded to Blu as soon as possible. I loved that Criterion put that out in a beautiful deluxe set and with a "What, Me Worry?" attitude, something you don't see much from them anymore.

I love this set. I re-watched the last two films on this set a few weeks ago. Those commentary tracks by Tom Weaver were really nice on Atomic Submarine and Man into Space.

ATOMIC SUBMARINE I have not watched in years, but I do recall that it reminded me of some of those old old Columbia serials about the navy where the battleships were all filmed in bathtubs and toilets. And I don't say that as if it were a bad thing!
