If we're going with the unlikely stuff, he's there because they're doing a 4K boxset of the movies he did for Fox

[Show spoiler]Doubt it.
Boyle regards Millions as his best film, and if he were consulted on which title Criterion should next licence of his he probably would say that one. And it is a kind of masterpiece. So never say never...

Anyone own Magnificent Obsession?

If so, do you know the aspect ratio of the 1935 version? The site lists 1.36:1 but not sure how accurate that is.

Heads up, the Funny Girl 4K is 63% off right now at Amazon. It’s $18 and change. Even though I haven’t seen it, at that price I jumped.

Does Criterion ever release Sony films? Thinking about importing this...

But maybe Criterion has it?

Criterion licenses from Sony.

Here is a list of films licensed from them : https://www.criterionforum.org/Search/Licensor/92/1

The film (Funny Girl) mentioned above your post is from Sony ..I don't think I've seen any Indication of Sahara being with Criterion though, so I'd say you're fine getting the UK release.

Thank you all. It seems the PQ on the Indicator is a little rough and the film needs a new master. Maybe Sony will do it themselves? I would love to see this film get the Criterion treatment.

With the mysterious disappearance of all news related to Miami Vice 4K from Shout, I'm assuming it's not happening.

Therefore, I'm hoping Criterion ended up scooping it up. I know they were promoting the hell out of it on social media when it was streaming on the Criterion Channel, which isn't always an indication, but it does get my hopes up.

A Criterion release of Miami Vice seems about as unlikely as Armageddon. Oh, wait a minute...

Announcements routinely get shifted around (or shafted lol). That's actually a pretty common occurrence at Shout.

Never have I ever come out of a screening wanting Criterion to upgrade a title as much as Kurosawa's Red Beard.

Saw the new restoration recently and it looks like the best restoration of the bunch so far. Lot of grain present, good contrast, and a really good sound that makes me wonder if it was remixed because of how clear it sounds. None of the other ones have impressed me as much (Most of those have Blu-ray releases, looks like DNR in the others, and then there's his early stuff that are inevitable just because the prints are in bad condition like Stray Dog and Ikiru).

Since Shout! Factory is releasing Catch-22 it looks like that completely kills the rumors that Criterion ever had that title in the first place. I'm happy it's finally coming out though as it has been a long time coming. So since I'm thinking about it right now does that mean Criterion has Heartburn, and honestly it would make a lot of sense considering Criterion puts out a lot of Nicholson films. Or does another boutique have Heartburn such as VS's Cinematographe line. There's been a lot of Mike Nichols love this year from both Shout! Factory, and Criterion I also noticed Postcards from the Edge was on the Criterion Channel hmmmmmm..... interesting not to mention Grosse Point Blank too. Very interesting indeed

What Nichols titles are left that are still missing in Action on Blu-Ray besides Heartburn? Can anyone think of any other Nichols titles still missing on Blu-Ray besides Heartburn as Catch-22 is now off the list?

I would love(however unlikely) a boxed set of Shohei Immaura, including his documentaries.

They would certainly find an audience again.

Also, 'Woman In The Dunes' in 4K would be a worthwhile project,

Adding fuel (or confirming if you believe him) Bill Hunt posted on social media that Criterion is releasing Eyes Wide Shut and, the already confirmed, Lolita "soon-ish."

I quite enjoyed watching Danny Boyle's Criterion Closet video. I liked his taste in cinema including all of the stylish and dynamic films he chose to take home. Now I have to watch the last shot in Trainspotting and then check out the last shot in Memories of Underdevelopment to compare them both.

He confirmed they licensed both movies but the "soon-ish" is still in Criterion time, which means it could be November or in 10 years

I have the Arrow three film Shohei Imamura set & kept waiting for Criterion to release another film by him on blu-ray. Warm Water Under a Red Bridge comes out from another company...crickets from Criterion. Still, only Vengeance is Mine. I do hope they can get the rights to Dr Akagi because I really like that film. It almost seemed like a prequel to Black Rain.
