I ordered a copy of CONTEMPT (le Mepris) from the ebay seller from UK.
I asked them by e-mail if they had stock to ship just in case if they were waiting on stock and they do have it currently. So instead of waiting mid-Oct. (according to other posters this is timeframe amazon.com may have it stocked) I wanted it as fast as I could. It came to 46.11 with shipping etc for US exchange rate. (let the yelling at how much I paid begin lol (although I still want the Japanese Import of BOUND badly and that ones runs over 50.00) :-) |

![]() Depends on your impatience. I would have rather ordered from amazon.com in UK but they are using a 3rd party seller to fill that item in orders and they never ship to the US, meanwhile the order sits there forever. (i know from a previous order) Other retailers seem to be selling it on US sites such as FYE, Barnes and Noble to name some (see above posts) But I checked with barnes and no whse has any stock to even ship. So it seems a wait for US distributors. I am sure there will be exceptions. Contempt was the ONE major film I was looking forward to on Criterions early list of soon to be Blu-Rays to be released.... until they lost the rights to it. |

![]() My copy arrived this morning. I haven't had a chance to look at the PQ/AQ, but I really like the packaging. |

I think I will just order it off of the U.S. amazon site, even if it takes until mid-October to get here. Atleast I will have it. I will place my order sometime tonight.

perhaps their shortage on cases has delayed other releases, but I'm bummed there's been no Che announcement for December, thus far.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Ran-B...n-Coding/5793/ Curious because I want Ran badly! and the Criterion release has been delayed indefinitely. If these are region free then I might also order Deer Hunter. |

I'll get it posted within a couple of hours...... want any of the others too? Pierrot Le Fou is pretty much like the other ones. |

Also, Last Year At Marienbad, The 400 Blows, Repulsion, and Wages of Fear are usually easy for people to find enjoyment from..... Curious Case of Benjamin Button is obviously a recent release, so there was a lot of talk on it, and a quick look at reviews would probably help you decide if it's your type of movie. Kagemusha is a good pick if you like Kurasawa or Samurai-esque films..... because it's certainly a good one. Play Time, The Last Metro, and Pierrot Le Fou might not appeal to as many people..... kinda depends on what movies you like. Monterey Pop is great if you like the music, and For All Mankind is great if you like documentaries.... In The Realm of The Senses is the most debated title available on Blu-ray right now, so I wouldn't recommend it for the a first as a blind-buy. Chungking Express, Bottle Rocket, Last Emperor, are all great.... Bottle Rocket is a good pick if you like the other Wes Anderson Films.... El Norte is a great story, great imagery, etc... and if you don't mind character and dialogue driven pieces, it's a very rewarding view. The Man Who Fell To Earth is great, but many don't care for it's rather open interpretations at times. Probably should steer clear of this one for a first also. |

First impressions were very good; strong image with no sign of EE or DNR to my amateur eyes anyway. Bear in mind I literally only played it for 30 seconds just to see how it looked. I might get a chance to give it a longer run later this evening ![]() BTW, Ran doesn't look mind-blowingly good (definite EE on some of those stark early images) but it did make me realise how terrible the Criterion DVD is in comparison. |
