Guys, what is this, is it the Contempt release in the UK? Why is it on American sites as a release Tuesday? Please help, as if this is true, I want it ASAP. It's like they made a U.S. version but can't find a pic of it anywhere. Fye has it the cheapest. Guys I think I found Contempt for us Americans on BLU.:

That's the UK Optimum Home Entertainment/Studio Canal BD (which uses the French title, Le mépris, on its cover) and it has been confirmed region-free here. There are murmurs in the UK section that 101 distribution won't be shipping its imports until mid-October however, so you might want to order direct from Amazon.co.uk instead.

So if I get it on FYE for example, I would have to wait until Oct?

Thanks by the way. I thought I was going to explode with happy feelings.

I don't know about those BB and FYE listings...they seem pretty cheap for a UK import and they aren't listed as imports, either. Also, unless the stores struck some sort of special ddeal, it seems unlikely that they would have them available by Tuesday September 29th, when the UK release is Monday the 28th. I would call your local BB or FYE before you pre-order and find out what is going on and whether it's a legitimate price and legitimate date for a legitimate UK import...legitimately.

I called two Barnes and Noble stores and spoke to someone in the video dept. I asked them to check to see if they are gonna get in CONTEMPT and gave them their UPS # from their website. It looks like both stores confirmed the same exact info... they won't carry it in stores and the item is setup for HOME DELIVERY only.

I then asked to see if any of their whses had any in stock and they both confirmed that they have none stocked at this time.

So it seems it could be a wait.

Thanks to the both of you. I am just new to importing things, since most of the time, their is a U.S. release for things.

So I guess what stores does are you order, then they have it shipped to their store location first, then it ships to you!?

These are supposedly being released in the U.S. in 2010 as well. Wondering if they will have English text on the box...

Don't remember if I read it on DVDTimes or where, but they said these same UK releases will also be released in the U.S. next year. Same discs. Not sure if the packaging will be the same though.

Well crap. I want this blu bad, love the artwork too. Should I wait for 2010 (don't know when in 2010) or pay $20 something dollars for shipping and get it in October? Or is shipping that much for imports. Sorry I have never imported.

If you want it, I'd import it. I import from amazon.uk all the time (just got Sunrise, looks incredible)... For me, anyway, if I love the movie, then price is no object. I may import all these Studio Canal collection titles except Marienbad. But I wish we had more info about the U.S. release.

http://www.studiocanal-collection.com/collection

"This international collection will be available by the end of 2009 in Europe, followed by Australia, Japan, and the USA early 2010."

Apparently the packaging stinks - no hub for the disc. It fits into a slit in the cardboard, which is never good and can cause warping, scratching, etc.

Edit: "The blu-rays don't sit inside a slip like the pictures above, there is a small disk holder in the middle of the digipak that the movie sits in, which was a welcome relief. BTW region locked A,B"

Just as an example so I know, how much around is the total for an import like this with shipping, since you imported sunrise.

I think it came out to around $30 even. But Sunrise is £2 more than these so I'd guess $28 each with shipping.

Dang that is cheap. I thought I would have to pay $40 to $50 with shipping.

That total you listed is cheaper than the Criterions I buy off of Amazon. I usually pay $35 for a Criterion Blu, since I use 2-day shipping. So if it's only going to be $28 to import a blu, I might buy this, soon.

Oh and sorry for going on about this, Godard is prob my fav director ever, so you can imagine me wanting this on blu.

I just have an issue with amazon.Uk retailer for Contempt... for Sunrise that is sold by amazon.com in UK but CONTEMPT they are using their third party distributer, and every time

I have ordered they eventually have to cancel my order because it sits their for days into weeks never being filled. Because they won't ship to the US.

I will have to try to order CONTEMPT from another retailer in UK other than amazon

Then what if you order off the U.S. amazon link? It will take a couple of weeks, but would it go through?

How do you know they are using a 3rd party distributor specifically for this title? Everytime I have ordered off amazon.co.uk (about 10 times) I have received the order in 3-4 days.

EDIT: Ah, I see the preferred merchant thing. But that's only for shipping to the U.K. It's a jersey-based company. It says "if you order an item that is messaged as being sold by Amazon's Preferred Merchant for dispatch to anywhere other than the UK, you are placing your Order with Amazon.co.uk." So everything should be fine.

someone pointed out that Amazon.com may not have stock till mid - October. So who knows. I just wish I could find someone who actually has stock they can ship this week. Seems like no retailer even has the discs haha

I found a ebay listing for it. And I think they actually have stock to ship on the release date... price may be higher than one may like though

I'm glad I have someone else looking for it too. Hope someone actually does have it to ship this week. Yeah the ebay listing is a little high.
