As long as you're still able to order it on their site they will fulfill your order. I bought Pierrot le Fou earlier this month when it was backordered and already received it.

Blu-ray speculation for older titles continued.
For Spine #'s 201-300, I'd say the following are more likely to get upgraded: #216 - The Rules of the Game - Their most prominent Renoir now that Grand Illusion is going OOP #217 - Tokyo Story - Their most prestigious Ozu #261-263 - Fanny & Alexander - Stated they would like to release it on Blu at some point. Prominent Bergman title. #265 - Short Cuts - Prominent Altman #281 - Jules and Jim - Prominent Truffaut #300 - The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - Have publicly stated they have more Anderson Blu on the way eventually And the following have little or no chance (not counting already OOP titles): #218 - Le circle rouge - Studio Canal licensed #271 - Touchez pas au grisbi - Studio Canal licensed #289 - Hoop Dreams - Shot on SD video Despite some spectacular titles in spine #201-300, somewhat slim pickings for obvious (e.g., more financially viable) titles, so perhaps a few surprise Blu-ray releases from this part of the catalog could be afoot. Again, some box sets would make my more likely list if they weren't box sets: #203-206 The BRD Trilogy, #208-212 A Film Trilogy by Ingmar Bergman, #250-256 John Cassavetes: Five Films (perhaps one of the titles by itself, like #253 A Woman Under the Influence), #282-285 Andrzej Wajda: Three War Films (perhaps just #285 Ashes and Diamonds). I could also see # 248 Videodrome and #249 The Battle of Algiers getting released, though I have no real compelling reason to speculate on them. Thoughts? If they lose all their Studio Canal licensed titles they would seemingly lose Last Year at Marienbad and The Man Who Fell to Earth. But as of right now they are still in print.

If that happens they'll use their only access to footage of Rip Torn's cock. This is the thing I find most tragic about that scenario.

The Man Who Fell to Earth - Anchor Bay Last Year at Marienbad - Rialto So, it looks like Last Year is "safe" as you stated. As for The Man Who Fell to Earth, the question is if Anchor Bay had licensed it from Studio Canal before Criterion licensed it from them. The same question would apply to Kind Hearts and Coronets as well. It's worth noting that my Anchor Bay copy of Kind Hearts has a Studio Canal logo on the back. Then again, so does my Last Year at Marienbad CC Blu. So.... I just don't know what to think! ![]() Last edited by captveg; 03-25-2010 at 03:02 AM. |

As far as the two OOP titles, "Pierrot Le Fou" was always in a plastic case. CC |

I want to buy Last Year At Marienbad, but I don't want to wait 2 months again for the replacement case again. I rather buy it in a store and be sure it has the plastic case. |

I know it isn't the popular choice, but I'd rather pay a person for a 12 year-old OOP Criterion release of the film (tempering my expectations accordingly) than add to DDs revenue on this title, which will no doubt be comparatively substantial. |

Before I give in to finally getting The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover on the OOP R1 DVD for an obscene amount, wasn't Criterion supposed to e releasing this like last year? Does anyone know anything further about it?

They've more recently stated that it is not coming from them.
