That was fast. B&N just summarily cancelled my High 'n' Low order. They just asked me to confirm it 2 days ago.

So....you win!

What? Cancelled it for no reason?

Well, right for this thread anyway
Haha. I don't care if I'm original. There's really no such thing as originality anymore. :P Besides, worrying about packaging is silly, it's the movie that you're interested in buying, not how pretty the thing looks on a shelf. As least I hope people are actually watching their Criterions they're buying. I do.

Oh I have, and I do. I do think that some of the posters on here get a little ridiculous at times though. BTW, Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School is a fangtastic little film BTW. It's far more enjoyable than Salo will ever be. It is the pinnacle of all made-for-tv Scooby Doo films.

What? This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read on the internets. What ARE girls supposed to be obsessed with, if I might ask? Just the pretty actors and Twilight (vomitous crap) and not the actual plots? I'm obsessed with a lot of things. I'd rather watch a film than sports or reality TV. I also grew up as a huge bookworm, and I'm into older music as well. Normally people can't understand my love of films because of my age, not my gender.

I thought being a Monkees fan and calling Peter Tork very, very, very, pretty would have given the whole gender thing away. i think I said Johnny Depp was sexy with male pattern baldness too at one point. You are also awesome because you like the Monkees as well. They need more respect.

I don't think I'll be pre-ordering 3 Women. Although I can appreciate what Altman was trying to do, and normally love his films, this one just didn't appeal to me. It was very slow moving, and didn't become interesting until the last half hour.

Not shooting the messenger, but I'll believe it when I see it as plenty of people keep saying that about movies and games. It would be a sad day.

Women really being into film is always a plus. More need to frequent the cinematheques

Some that are casual about cinema are really open to recommendations and they usually enjoy the Woody Allen films I suggest. Naturally, I don't expect a girl to watch Last Year at Marienbad. Although, one remarked that the film sounded "complex" and "kind of like Inception".

I did have a girl out of the blue suggest that I need to see BREATHLESS asap. I confirmed it was NOT the remake and was mildly impressed.

Probably looking at Deep Discount or Amazon being next. Nothing spanning a few weeks but every so often there are great deals. Several weeks ago DD had White Material and others for $15 shipped.

Next BN is November.

usually it's a 50% discount-- most of the titles "list" for $39.99 so you'll et them for $19.99

Barnes and Noble does it once a year, Amazon occasionally has sales like this, and Deep Discount will have these prices sometimes with their annual 25% off sale (if they don't inflate the prices before it anyway...)

I imagine this was just a brain cramp but B&N runs their CC sale twice a year - July and November.

I can't speak as to when Amazon has Criterion sales, but they happen often enough (last one was about 2-3 months ago), but they don't always include all titles. Other than the B&N and Criterion site sales, I've gotten all my other Criterions from Amazon at $17.99 or $19.99 (400 Blows was $12.99 in 2009).

I suggest putting the movies you're interested in your shopping cart, and checking it maybe once a week. And blu-ray.com's price tracker can help also. You can sign up and get an email when the disc hits your desired price.

I don't usually meet people who are interested in cinema like I do . I have just one female friend who loves film and everything about it (Thanks God she isn't into that Twilight crap most girls I know are) but that it. I am also friend of a film critic and well, I can say my grandpa likes film a lot. But those three persons are the only ones I know who like film in a more serious way. Imagine how happy I was when I discovered this community .

Anybody know which sets of Criterion BDs first employed the "Resume Playback" feature?
