I own them all, and would rank them:

Le cercle rouge > Last Temptation > Pale Flower > Traffic

I'd say Traffic is on a much lower tier than the other 3. It's a good film but I don't think it stands up to any of the others.

World on a Wire! Near the top of my list of all time best Criterion blind buys.

KINO has already released that Teutonic Titanic on DVD SomeFilmBuff. Despite its ambitious (for the era) production values, if historical accuracy is your bag...uhm...give that über telling of the tale a wide pass. It's hard to stifle all the unintentional larffs.

Ah, okay. The sci-fi hook threw me but wanting the film makes perfect sense. I caught it on TCM and it instantly went on my July list. In fact, it was only a few weeks or so before the sale and once hooked I normally stop watching and wait for the BD but I couldn't turn it off.

Pale Flower. I haven't watched Last Temptation yet, really don't care for Traffic and like Le Cercle Rouge well enough but my reaction to Pale Flower was solidly in 'omg, best movie evrah' territory.

Bloody hell, the sale ends a few days before my venture to B&N, and there's no way I'm going before the 5th of Ocotber. Here's hoping there's another fun sale.

Le Havre is even more enjoyable the second and third time around. People have no souls if they aren't touched by
[Show spoiler]Marcel and Arletty's relationship. I'm going to get smacked for it, but it reminded me a bit of Carl and Ellie from Up.

Criterion Sci-Fi (some already mentioned):

Island of Lost Souls (of the pre-code, slightly horror variety)
La Jatee (part of a set with Sans Soleil)
Robinson Crusoe on Mars
Solaris
World on a Wire

Kiss Me Deadly is noir, but with a Cold War sci-fi twist

I don't see how a night to remember could be considered science fiction. Perhaps cameron's Titanic is, and even then I don't think folks would consider or describe that sci-fi.

Last night, as part of the B2G1 (with the 40%), I ordered:

12 Angry Men
39 Steps
Charade - Free
Lady Vanishes
Killing
Paths Of Glory - Free

I also really wanted "The Red Shoes" so I bought it. Order came out to be ~$120, which I think is exceptionally great for 7 Blu-Ray Criterions

The bad news is my credit card wouldn't go through (when I had money in it), so I kept moving more money over and trying it again. Barnes 'N Noble scared me and said they cancelled my order due to repeated attempts, but the only thing that changed was the status from "Unable" to "Not yet shipped" - approximately 15 minutes later, I got a confirmation that it was going to ship.

I was worried so I ordered "Anatomy Of A Murder" to see how a cancellation showed up in the order history, but they won't cancel it and they confirmed it shipping. I don't really care because I wanted it, but I didn't feel like spending $40+ on one movie (because I ordered it post 40% off sale)

Couldn't have said it better. One of my favorite boxsets by far. Would love to see this get a Blu!. Personally I thought The Last Command was the best in the set, but they are all superb films.

I agree. One of my best Criterion blind buys too. I was delaying buying it because I fell asleep to another Fassbinder film (Bitter Tears). But World on a Wire is an awesome exciting sci-fi flick!

Of course the best sci-fi movie in the collection, on any formats, is The Blob.

Well, I just put A Night to Remember out there because it's a Criterion release that I want in general, not because it's Science Fiction. I don't easily confuse genres.

Some may disagree with my opinion but some of these Blu Ray titles aren't expensive. I still remember some of the prices for Criterion titles when DVD was in its infancy.

If he was selling bootlegs, he wouldn't have a 99.7% rating.
