I don't think Nez would budge though, since he does so well with VideoRanch.

I really do want to see Night of the Strangler in some capacity. Also, Micky was in a film called Linda Lovelace for President. I have a little Disney film coming called The Bluegrass Special (buying Disney films gets you free swag kids) where Davy plays an ******* jockey. I readily admit I picked it out because I had enough points for it and because Davy's in it.

Gotcha, I'll issue a false apology for that remark then, as I honestly can't find much good out of either director. They have largely underwhelmed me.

Anyways I'm getting all of them
Qatsi Trilogy: I'm enthusiastic about this have only seen Koyaanisqatsi and loved it
Brazil: love this film and haven't bought the Universal BD.
Purple Noon: seems like a safe Blind Buy
Following I pretty much like everything Nolan, with MUCH reservation, of course. So this seems like a decent Blind buy.
Why not? I don't enjoy either of them, and I usually lump stuff I don't like together. Are you horrified that I lump them in with Norbit, Tyler Perry, and Lou Bega?

Definitely in for Brazil. Sold my DVD set over the weekend under the hopes the rumors were true.

Haven't seen the other films announced. Interested in the Qatsi trilogy, but don't know if I really care for these types of experimental movies.

Purple Noon has me interested as well. Curiously, Criterion is rumored to have the rights to Wim Wenders' The American Friend, an adaptation of another "Ripliad" novel.

Haven't seen Following, but it'd be cool to see Nolan's first film.

So forget about the aforementioned auteurs, you just don't appreciate any rapid fire editing ala Bay, Tony Scott, or even Michael Mann? Do you prefer your action unbroken, clear and fluid like say.... Guillermo Del Toro?

Oh, I agree with you. The lists can get ridiculous. When it comes to smaller foreign or indie films, not many people are willing to release them but Criterion is so I can understand being frustrated at seeing bigger titles like Anderson and Fincher titles being released when the smaller films aren't. They do have to balance them out though. I recently looked up all of Criterion's releases from the LaserDisc era, and when looking at the company today, it's weird to know that they released big classics like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, King Kong, etc. and films like Robocop and Armageddon (seriously, what were they thinking there?). I do agree that there are some films that are currently in the collection that could have been well off being released by their studio (Benjamin Button).

C'mon, the film has already had a re-issue on Blu-ray with a brand spanking new transfer, and it has plenty of quality supplements. Other than the "allure" of it being part of the Collection, what could Criterion possibly add? Even if they did throw in some exclusive supplements, no one would double dip on it at Criterion prices!

To be quite honest, I like anything. However, I prefer American films that aren't too old, because I like seeing films with known actors and not reading subtitles / seeing terrible quality. With that being said, I do not mind watching foreign Criterions at all or films way before my time. Films dealing with Action, Crime, and Psychological Thrillers (i.e. David Lynch) are my favorite. I really enjoy films that make me think after the film. Don't get me wrong, I love films in general, but I like going beyond the film and seeing what more there is to it. Some of my favorite films, in general, are American Beauty, Collateral, Dawn Of The Dead (2004 Remake), Desperado, Inglourious Basterds, Leon The Professional, The Machinist, The Matrix, Mulholland Drive, The Shawshank Redemption, Traffic, True Romance, Vanilla Sky, and Waitress.

I think some of the films that sound the best are 8 1/2, Belle De Jour, Black Moon, Brazil, Cul-de-sac, Do The Right Thing, Down By Law, Following, Gomorrah, Hunger, Ice Storm, M, My Own Private Idaho, Night Of The Hunter, Rashomon (November), Salo (I own it but I've yet to see it), Seventh Seal, Solaris, Unbearable Lightness Of Being, and Videodrome.

I own RoboCop, Silence Of The Lambs, and Straw Dogs already in Blu-Ray and DVD but I want these Criterions lol

You only have to go back one month for a FAR superior month.

I'm happy to see Brazil, and Purple Noon I will be looking forward to checking out. Not too keen on the other two.

My only comment after seeing these 4 releases - where is On the Waterfront? Still waiting for that one.

It seems like it. I can see why some people want to see more releases from other countries. Criterion has their usual zones more than covered for 2012.

Those graphics show the problem I got with Criterion this year. Variety was on the floor all over the year. Now that they cleaned pretty much all the "requested" stuff I hope 2013 will bring something fresh and new to the table. Also, I found it funny the way they worded the Delon thing, I know he was very handsome but Criterion's way with words is quite amusing .

I'd agree--it's disappointing to see those now, mainly the releases-by-country, even though it's expected.

...And I definitely found Criterion's words there amusing as well.

So ? I was just throwing out there, I wasnt being overly serious, but that's my favorite Nolan film not named Batman. I could have said The Prestige as well. You never know what Criterion can do and how do you know no one would *double dip* on it
Buyers double dip all the time. And others would wait for the infamous Barnes and Noble 50% off deal.
If I had to pick a Nolan movie for Criterion it would be Memento, if its David Lynch Id want Mulholland Drive , if its Woody Allen , Id watch Match Point. Just preferences really
