I think you'll really enjoy it...the fact that I was able to stream it on Hulu, is what has kept me from buying it. I can wait for a sale at this point. That's why I'll hold off on this flash sale and wait for a more controllable scenario.

Finally finished Anatomy Of A Murder.

While I enjoyed the movie and thought James Stewart's acting was phenomenal, I feel like the ending was cut really short. They could have elaborated an extra five minutes or so and wrapped it up better, in my opinion.

I still found it to be a good watch.

Got Cronos, Godzilla, and Week End. Man it was hard to control myself from getting more though. But between girlfriend, concerts, and movies I have to limit myself even when the deal is this good.

I just finished The Invisible Man and am now moving on to The Bride of Frankenstein.

The restorations of these Universal Monster flicks are outstanding, and so much better than I ever dreamed possible. I watched both versions of Dracula several weeks ago, then skipped straight ahead to The Creature from the Black Lagoon (because that's my favorite one), and am returning to the set today at long last. I've seen all these movies a million times over, save for the included version of The Phantom of the Opera, which I only saw once during childhood, but seeing them in high definition is a treat.

The Invisible Man is a trip, because he is the one truly malicious Universal Monster that doesn't elicit a lot of sympathy. Still, I can't help cheering for his destructive antics.

I'll have to cap these off by watching the Criterion of Godzilla.

Speaking of Hulu, I'm just finally trying out Hulu Plus for the first time (even though I've done Netlix streaming for YEARS now). I'm taking advantage of a full month trial right now. So I'm going to try and watch at least 50 movies off the Criterion channel during this trial. (trying to stick mostly with stuff out of Eclipse sets, or that are DVD only).

They have an extremely impressive Criterion channel with hundreds of titles. Unfortunately that's about all they have... unless I'm missing something the rest of HuluPlus absolutely sucks. Might still be worth subscribing for a few months to catch as much off the Criterion channel as I can.

Watching someone robot-walking down the street while texting and dropping out of sight down a manhole would be the highlight of my day (assuming they didn't, like, actually die). There was a similar video aired a few weeks ago, might have been on Jimmy Kimmel, where a woman, texting, walked up to a public fountain in a busy location and took a full-frontal header. Mel Brooks funny!

O/t~ overcome by the madness... just ordered five from the flash-sale~ it's like finding money, isn't it?

I just got my copy of Sansho from Amazon today and those idiots, once again sent it in a bubble pack mailer. It was bad enough when my Hitchcock came with a cracked plastic case...but the Mizo came with dinged corners. After having the last three orders exchanged and leaving one star feedbacks and long feedback complaints about using bubble packs and not using boxes...they still sent Sansho in a bubble pack.
[Show spoiler]This time, I called customer support and leveled a complaint, without shooting the messenger (CSR). They are overnighting a replacement copy...ironically from the same warehouse. It will supposedly be tagged (since my complaint), so we'll see how it is shipped and what condition it comes in.

I may have major OCD, but with certain titles, I go the extra yard to get them in good condition. I even decided to live with a fairly creased/dinged package on The Story of Film DVD set (though the packaging for that set is pretty flimsy).

I had wanted to only order two titles at the most for this flash sale. The Mizo Eclipse set and Ivan's Childhood. It figures that they don't allow back orders with the discount code. I opted to wait until the next sale at either B & N and/or Amazon.

Agreed on Bigger Than Life...unless you've lived with anyone dealing with substance abuse...you can't imagine what it's like...sort of like raising a child with special needs. That is also the reason I bought The Lost Weekend from MoC. Another great film that doesn't get discussed very much.

Thanks for letting me vent! Had a long day at the gastroenterologist with a very upset autistic 10 year old and the wife and I are fried. At least I've got Waterfront, Sansho, and Thief of Bagdad to look forward to over the next weekend!
Pretty easy solution to the annoyance of bubble-wrap (at least its worked for me thus far). I always order at least two movies at a time, usually three. Voila! cardboard carton guaranteed!

Going to pull the trigger next week on

Kiss Me Deadly
Broadcast News
Island of Lost Souls
Dazed and Confused
Blow Out
Traffic
400 Blows
Carlos
Ivan's Childhood
War Room
World on a Wire

After I do the math after taxes they'll average out to $17.26 with free shipping.

Is that a good deal or should I wait for B&N sale?

Missed out on On The Waterfront and Two-Lane Blacktop (although the latter is currently on the way via MoC steelbook, so I can hold off on that a bit longer).

I did get And Everything Is Going Fine, The Game, La Haine, and Sunday Bloody Sunday, though...

Did anyone see the trailer of Holy Motors and immediately think Criterion Collection?

I just finished The Kid With A Bike.

Wow, I am very impressed. When I first read the plot description, it was probably the film that I cared the least about owning. I'm glad I saw it because I'm completely won over by it.

The acting was fantastic and the boy who played Cyril was just amazing. The storyline was very good, as well. For such a somewhat short film (87 minutes), it's well worth a watch.

I would recommend buying it during this sale!

I bought Sansho and Wages of Fear. Complete blind buys based solely on listening to you all talk so highly of them. Hope I did well. Came back later to get Paris, TX but its on back order . Will wait for next Criterion sale.
Only titles left to get: Diabolique, Two Lane, Paris, TX and upgrade my Last Days DVD and Ill have all I want.
Already have 4 March titles on pre order

They did the same thing with Fantomas, which is a great collection with a bevy of extras...a shame it's not out on BD. Flicker Alley released Judex without French intertitles, so it's possible that they don't exist anymore.
I agree - the Kino release of Les Vampiresis well worth it.
I also agree - would much prefer French intertitles.
It's a real shame there aren't extras, but then again we're pretty lucky to have such a good A/V presentation of a film coming up to its 100th year.

Since I still have to watch some movies I bought in the last Nov. B&N sale, the only movie I wanted ASAP was On the Waterfront but I was too late . Guess I'll have to wait to the next B&N sale to buy it.

I've got my eye on this Universal Monster collection...
But then again, I've also got my eye on the Sophia Loren collection and a tonne of other things
