It seems like a lot of the images they use are just screen shots from the various films. I would be surprised if they represented actual covers, because in the past that hasn't been the case.

Maybe around the holidays. I think they are saving City Lights for last.

Was just thinking about Keaton today. I have to review the latest Gore Verbinski film and some of his films (Rango, Dead Man's Chest) recall the antics in the maestro's cannon.

The Cameraman would definitely be a great addition to the collection. Hell, even one of the weaker entries in the Kino set (Three Ages) would have made a great addition.

The Cameraman and the other Keaton MGM films are owned by Warner.

Where? I think you are mistaking the soft announcement of The Brood for Rabid. I'd love to get more details about Criterion obtaining Rabid. Did I miss something?

This is The Brood's soft announcement: http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashvi...nt?oid=3320362

..and CC only has a couple WB films right? The cameraman may prove difficult to pry from their hands.

I'm going to take my sister to see Despicable Me over the weekend. I actually found the first one quite charming.

Followed you back, as well.

I'll have to some catching up before I do the same. My little sister was a big fan of the first entry.

I haven't been following the thread lately, but for anyone who preordered the Rossellini/Bergman set that was in the September lineup...is your preorder still there?

I figured I'd post it here since you guys have probably had experience buying from Barnes & Noble.

I recently put in an online order from B & N for 3 movies (8 1/2, The Lady Vanishes and Chungking Express). Got one for free in that "buy 3" deal. I saw that a new Chungking was still listed for $39.99 when I ordered so I figured I shouldn't wait on it for the 50% off sale.

They came in today. Lady and 8 1/2 are shrink-wrapped and appear to be fine. Chungking was not wrapped and the case is completely broken along the bottom. The disc was loose too. I feel like they just grabbed some spare copy of the movie and tossed it into my order. Any of you guys have experience getting replacements and/or refunds or anything along those lines for broken cases?

I think the best way to go about this is to order some replacement cases from Casetopia. Here is a link: http://www.casetopia.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1820

It's a lot easier, in my opinion, than going through the hassle of replacing the copy from Barnes 'N Noble (especially since the film is OOP). Plus, it's a lot cheaper than ordering replacement cases directly through Criterion.com.

So what do you guys think of the prospect of The Brood seeing a Criterion release before the end of the year?

I'm kind of debating picking up the import but I'm not so sure.

I think Despicable Me is animated perfection. Better than Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragon.

I would say October seems to be the consensus.

If we're going to call anything animated perfection, my vote goes towards Finding Nemo.
