Praise the Gods of Cinema. One of my very favorite Jarmusch films (alongside Dead Man and Mystery Train).

More people will remember The Conjuring than RIPD.

I applaud The Conjuring for being relatively low budget. I don't think it has anything in common with "blockbusters" or "studio-driven films".

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Stranger Than Paradise. It was one of the original titles that Criterion tested in HD before deciding to start selling Blu Rays. I don't know what's taking so long! Side note: The Ice Storm (just released) was also one of the first. As was Bicycle Thieves, which they should also get on.

You know, after posting that, I thought to myself "I should have used R.I.P.D. as an example instead." Worst movie title ever (or at least a contender)!

And I'll be checking out most, if not all, of Jarmusch's other films.

This is another case where I will be curious to see the actual release. Pro-B sounds pretty disappointed, but dvdbeaver calls the print "gorgeous, thick, rich and film-like." I will be curious to see where I fall on the spectrum (although things like digital correction are pretty hard to argue with).

Hopefully I will get a chance to watch it soon, but it probably will have to wait until the next sale...

No offense but I trust a 3 year old to give me a better description of what they're seeing on a Blu-ray disc then what DVDBeaver has to say.

That being said Pro-B did an excellent job posting screen grabs to help illustrate exactly what it was he was seeing on this presentation. It's rather quite obvious and disappointing.

I'm not saying you should trust them, I am just saying what they said. As for the reviews, there are times when Pro-B seems to agree with the consensus, and there are times when he doesn't, as you would expect. I was just saying I am curious to see it myself

Naturally I have yet to see this transfer with my own eyes, but I do not understand why Criterion, once again, decides to give the green light to such a subpar release. Why not wait until a better transfer is available, or even better, pay for a new one? Criterion's reputation is based on solid supplements, and that they'll go that extra mile to provide the high-paying customers stellar transfers. The only assumption I can make, is that Children of Paradise sold well enough, so why bother with this one either?

The Cassavetes set is now $86.99, and Eyes Without a Face and La Notte are each $27.99.
