I thought it was Midnight Cowboy, but I have sucked at this game in the past.

Midnight Cowboy sounds right! Sick Rizzo? That would be too awesome if we got that!

I doubt it since the recent Blu-ray release is... well, recent.

If it is Midnight Cowboy that is the first clue I've ever guessed correctly.

Hat's in the ring for either King Rat or an upgrade of Ratcatcher (if Lynne Ramsay's back in the news, why not?).

That's not a crown. That rat is tired of getting caught. Look at its tail.

Fanny and Alexander is funny, warm, tragic, heartbreaking, mischievous, ghostly, magical, etc. It has some of the most vivid scenes I've ever seen in cinema
[Show spoiler]the scene when Oscar is laid to rest in the coffin and we hear Emilie screaming intermittently gives me chills
. I won't give them away but you'd be hard pressed to forget them once you've seen it. The film is just so wonderfully directed, scripted and acted. It also has one of the best villians - you will hate him

The version to watch is the 5-hour television version. I've seen the theatrical but the tv version tops it. You'll want to spend as much time with Bergman's characters as possible.

Yep. This is the best guess so far. I haven't seen in it a while. It would be nice to revisit this flick on Criterion blu

It could still be Midnight Cowboy. They are releasing It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World even though MGM already has. Criterion had Midnight Cowboy on Laserdisc back in the day.

I am not even lying. I just thought to myself the other day, "boy I wish Criterion would give Midnight Cowboy a nice release". I hope this is true! Great movie!

(btw, 2014 is the 45th anniversary of it).

Criterion has released several M-G-M titles. Cul de Sac, Killers Kiss, Sunday Bloody Sunday, sqatsi trilogy and (next year) Thief are all part of the list criterioncast speculated on back in 2010. Also in that mix are a couple of MoC titles that will probably be announced for CC next year, Red River & Fellini's Roma. So, it's a pretty strong relationship and makes Cowboy sound like a definite possibility.

Midnight Cowboy was a big deal when it was released, but look at the low collection count on the MGM release. There isn't much interest in it any more.

Genius.

I was guessing, "Wait, they're getting together with Pixar! It's a rat (ah, too ill)..."

100% certain it's Midnight Cowboy, no doubt about it.

What kind of yardstick is that? The current Midnight Cowboy release is in more collections than World on a Wire, People on Sunday, the Vigo set, Kes and so forth and so on. Or maybe 'and so forth and so what' is a better way to put it.

I'm not a huge fan of rereleasing films with adequate BD releases but if they they're going to give a film that's already out on BD more attention then there are certainly worse choices.

It's a great film from what might well be Hollywood's goldenest golden age and the current release definitely left room for improvement.

I wouldn't have put it on any rerelease wishlists but I'm completely fine with the decision.

If that's even it, of course.

I hope it's midnight cowboy as the pq could be better on the MGM release, but Roegs Witches would be good - pretty underrated.
