Box sets:
The faith "trilogy" by Bergman
Dekalog, if this gets released by Criterion it will be their greatest box set release.
I'm not sure if this is still the case, but I think Kino still has the rights for Stalker, meaning a Criterion release is not in the cards.

I'd love to be wrong, though. Stalker is my favorite Tarkovsky...

I have had the following films listed under Most Wanted In The Collection on My Criterion page for several months:

Don't Look Now
The Big Heat
In a Lonely Place
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
The Dekalog
The Fountain
Kill Bill

I guess the last two films on my list are probably the least likely to be released by Criterion. I have hope that the other films will be released in the future based on newsletter clues and the fact that some of these directors are already in the collection. Criterion seems to be fans of Lang, Roeg, and Kieslowski.

By the way, I plan to purchase Nicholas Ray's Bigger than Life later this year. What do you all think of the Criterion edition of the film?

Where do people stake out during the announcement period? Their actual FB & Twitter are always behind you guys here.

I have Red River opened on the Official site waiting for Spine 709 but I guess that does not work for Upgrades ?

I can understand why people may not like him, but I don't feel he is del indulgent, he has a unique style and he wants to experiment, as well as shock, but I love that - there is something about Irreversible that is so incredible, its shocking but I'm in love with it.

I also have Sweet Movie and I like it, its one of those films you either love or hate, its vile and disgusting, but if you are into transgressive cinema and such then you will find something to appreciate.

I don't think anyone considers this a holiday. If anything tomorrow is the day everyone takes "off."

In England it isn't a holiday. Nor is St. George's Day a national holiday.

The Big Heat won't be able to be released by anyone until after May 8, 2015 due to the contract with Twilight Time.

I do not stake anything out. I just wait for everyone else to do all of the work posting the titles here.

I'm like those farm animals who refuse to help the little red hen to make the bread, but are perfectly happy to eat the bread once the little red hen is finished making it.

Just think of it...if every day was a holiday in the USA, we would never have Criterion announcements! Oh, the horror!

It's going to suck when announcement day falls on Arbor Day.
