My god the black and white is gorgeous on A Hard Days Night...

There is a music number playing.... feels cheesy :P (the song) lol, not the best lip syncing either lol

Think I am going to order this pay day...

I have noticed a lot of Criterion films on TV lately in UK which is odd, Hard Days Night, Lady Vanishes etc

I do - but I appreciate the film making...

I never praised the band members, I was praising the film, there is a difference :P the music bits as I said seem cheesy and doesn't do anything for me.

No love for vinyl? I haven't bought an LP in more than a decade, but I love going in used record shops.

Would love the before trilogy to come to the collection also.
I would love the "Before" trilogy as well, but if it would be a box set I would be bothered if there would be a fourth movie along the line.

Also I think these movies are one of the extremely few cases where I would not mind if there would not be any extra features as these are movies I only want to interpret for myself.

Boyhood has not opened here in Atlanta just yet.

It's probably just as well, since my lifelong love of the Planet of the Apes stories took precedence when I went to the theater after work today. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is pretty great.

As people have mentioned a few titles they'd like to see in the collection, I wanted to mention one director: Kathryn Bigelow. I'm a huge fan. Her early work like Near Dark is fascinating. Her audio commentaries are very well thought out and articulated. She's also probably the best educated and most academic of her peers, someone who knows the history of the artform and seeks to push boundaries and establish her own unique niche. Her films take interesting positions and mash genres. And Zero Dark Thirty sets her as one of the greatest working directors now at the peak of her powers. I don't know what title I would choose...maybe Near Dark, maybe Zero Dark Thirty since that BD was very sparse without a commentary. I know some much lesser directors have their entire oeuvres presented in the best possible way...about time for Bigelow, someone who hasn't found the same Internet love and attention as other, cooler directors.

Let me know what you thought of the film? Naked is Mike Leigh's best film in my opinion and one of my favorites in general.

Every few months I will send an email to suggestions@criterion.com and Bigelow's Strange Days was one of my suggestions. Please give that film a try if you haven't already. I recall that a few other members here are also fans of Strange Days.

Ah that's a shame, what was it that made it feel meh?

I thought it was an incredible film, but suppose we all like different things :P

Default House

Speaking of House is it a better "watch before you buy" title? It looks awesome but rarely do I want to see horror movies twice. Is it horror? It just looks crazy to me lol
