That's how I watched the Dances With Wolves blu-ray, and I'm starting a similar treatment of Heaven's Gate tomorrow night.

I always watch the 312-minute Fanny and Alexander in one afternoon, albeit with a few pause breaks.

I've seen this version a few times, and I'm never bored or burned out during the five hours.

Yes, except when the person giving you the information is wearing a bow tie, or so my psych professor at uni had me believe.

It was restored recently and no other labels have expressed any interest/announcements regarding anything to do with Powell/Pressburger so it will almost definitely be coming from Criterion at some point in the near future.

More Fritz Lang is a good thing. I've got Man Hunt on the way to me from Twilight Time this week, but the later films would be perfect as well.

I'd be shocked if one wasn't announced for November. They release at least one Chaplin film a year and it will be a year then since they released City Lights.

I watched The Game a couple nights ago for the first time, so I have now seen all of David Fincher's movies I believe, that is until Gone Girl comes out.

In the beginning, the movie moves at a very slow, relaxed pace, and Michael Douglas is perfect for this part and is on the same level as the movie. I was very intrigued where the movie was going, I like Fincher's style, I like Douglas, the premise was interesting. There were some thrilling set pieces. As it went on, however, it became less interesting for me in places, and I was not a fan of the twist ending. Parts of it really don't make a lot of sense, and the way the movies plays out is rather ridiculous. I enjoyed The Game, but it has its flaws and it's not upper tier Fincher. Wasn't overly impressed with the supplemental package, outside of the commentary which I did not listen to. The teaser trailer was actually pretty cool. It doesn't show much of anything from the movie if you're interested in it.

well, I've watched it once, one episode per day.
I'm not sure if I could do it in one sitting.
The longest film I have seen like that from beginning to end is Cleopatra.

It's been mentioned that one the the following United Artists features may be coming from Criterion:

The Defiant Ones
One, Two, Three (this won't come from Kino)
The Miracle Worker
Tom Jones (this also won't come from Kino - maybe Criterion 2015)

I agree with everything you wrote. The Game is a solid film, but no more than that. One of the worst Criterion titles I'd say.

Really? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, then again I haven't gone out of my way to look.

I would love to see The Defiant Ones come out. It's a great film!

I believe it was mentioned in one of the Kino threads. These titles were listed in a thread that revealed one one them was coming from Criterion. May have been on another forum

I lucked out and found a copy of Marketa Lazarová at FYE for just $7. Never heard of it before but the review was glowing here.

Prepare to take the red Matrix pill, and go into another world altogether. Haha.

Marketa Lazarova is insanely demented, but in a great way. Do not try to figure out what is going on during the first 40 minutes of the movie. Just sit back, enjoy the amazing imagery, and roll with it.

I have been clamoring for a Criterion release of The Defiant Ones for some time now. It's such a gripping film with wonderful work from Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier. The fact that it's a Stanley Kramer film makes me hope that Criterion will pick it up.
