came to about $48 using the $5 coupon and with tax included.

i’ve seen the fabulous baron munnchausen, but not the other 2. looking forward to it.
hope it arrives in one piece, i know this set’s packaging is elaborate

Plan on catching up and nabbing some samurai titles I don't yet have. And despite the rumours of a Kurosawa set, I still really want Rashomon and Throne of Blood separately. And fingers crossed that Onibaba gets a blu release. It's sat for far too long on dvd.

Last month they announced before the 15th, so I wonder if that will happen again since Monday is a holiday.

Either way, have no idea what titles we might get this month. The New Year's hint would help a lot.

I almost bit on this one too, but was scared away by fear of Amazon's obsession with bubble mailers.

I want the cool packaging intact, so decided to wait a couple of weeks for the flash sale. Good luck guizhang!

While the packaging of the set can be 'elaborate', it is in itself pretty compact, so I would be surprised, outside of possible corner dings, if there were much of a heightened risk of damage. I wouldn't be any more worried to order this from Amazon than I would any of Criterion's digipak releases.

If they don’t announce on Monday, I’d expect it on the 16th. Usually (not always, but usually) they announce on the closest business day to the 15th.

I'd seriously love an Antoine Doinel upgrade. I own the Artificial Eye bluray set but the movies cry for brand new 4K scans hopefully from the negative. 400 Blows' old transfer just doesn't cut it anymore. The others have old transfers as well.

Also, I hope The Mirror is annouced in a few days but I want to mention thanks to capsaholic I spotted a version for Solaris that easily beats Criterion's bluray. Only problem it has no english subs.

I saw "In the Heat of the Night" yesterday.

Great film and the picture quality was great as well. Great job by Criterion.

So I really hope that since the Safdie's have to done things for Criterion like videos and raiding their closet, I'm hoping for a double film release of their early work: The Pleasure of Being Robbed and Daddy Longlegs. These two titles need a release since they don't have any blu releases, anywhere. plus I'm, sure they can port over their shorts onto the set too. that would be a fine release imo.
